Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 + Bonus Eligible

- MOSA.ic.SCA and Vigiles, tools that provide Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and Common Vulnerabilities Exposure (CVE) management for embedded Linux-based and other applications.
- Software development services for high-reliability applications that can include initial setup of a "DevSecOps" development environment, software application development, and long-term product lifecycle management.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Test Engineering Manager to lead and mature our test engineering function in support of safety-critical aerospace and defense programs. This role requires deep expertise in DO-178C, strong project management capabilities, and proven experience overseeing large, distributed engineering teams. You will manage a large team of test engineering contractors, ensuring high-quality execution, process compliance, and on-time delivery across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a large team of test engineering contractors across multiple workstreams.
- Establish clear performance expectations, track productivity, and ensure alignment with program goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Test Strategy & Execution
- Own the development, planning, and execution of test strategies for DO-178C-compliant software systems.
- Ensure all testing artifacts (test cases, procedures, results, traceability, etc.) meet DO-178C objectives and certification requirements.
- Drive automation, tooling improvements, and test process advancements where appropriate.
- DO-178C Compliance
- Guide teams through all DO-178C stages including planning, requirements-based testing, structural coverage, problem reporting, and verification closure.
- Collaborate with Quality, Systems Engineering, and Certification teams to ensure audit readiness.
- Oversee generation and review of verification documentation, ensuring traceability and completeness.
- Project & Program Management
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Track progress across multiple concurrent test programs and communicate status to senior leadership and customers.
- Ensure on-time delivery while balancing scope, quality, and cost.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Systems Engineering, Software Development, Quality Assurance, and Program Management to ensure integrated delivery.
- Serve as a key technical and managerial point of contact for customer interactions, reviews, and milestone discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in software test engineering within aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical environments.
- Hands-on DO-178C experience in verification, planning, documentation, and certification activities.
- Experience leading a team of test engineers.
- Strong knowledge of test methodologies, requirements-based verification, and configuration management.
- Proven ability to build schedules, manage complex projects, and lead cross-functional efforts.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in embedded systems, avionics, or real-time operating systems.
- Experience managing offshore or distributed engineering teams.
- PMP, Scrum Master, or other project management certifications.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing large engineering teams or contractor workforces.
