Camera and Optics lead

About the role

  • We are seeking an experienced optics engineering lead in charge of the lens design for camera and optical sensor as well as camera assembly in our sensor fusion systems

What you'll do

  • Define the Engineering Requirements Specification for our camera and sensor lens through simulation and DOEs.
  • Design and verification of lens design through optical, thermal, mechanical simulations.
  • Work closely with lens manufacturers to delivery lens with trade off between the performance and cost to meet product demands through tolerance analysis.
  • Select and perform onsite auditing for Lens supplier
  • Manage the Asia camera assembly to meet the specs, timeline as well as cost requirement.
  • Work closely with our RnD team and suppliers to develop the lens OQC and IQC metrology from NPI to volume production.
  • Develop data pipeline for lens and camera manufacture for yield improvement through increasing Cp and Cpk for each process step.
  • Data automation and data management for lens and camera related databases
  • Improvement micro-optics performance within sensor through Zemax, mechanical and thermal simulation.    
  • Assist micro-optics AA via design and hand-on
  • Own the lens and camera reliability test    

Required Qualifications

  • A master s degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Optical simulation experience using software such as Zemax.
  • Understand camera modules and assembly process.
  • Understand lens design and impact of the temperature and material selection.
  • The successful candidate need have English communication capability.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Ability to maintain good documentation.
  • Good communication and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is highly desired.
  • Experience in lens design, including optical, thermal, and mechanical design considerations.
  • Hands-on experience with lens sensitivity analysis, lens athermalization design, and optical device assembly.
  • Experience working with camera assembly houses and lens suppliers.
  • Understanding of DOE concepts for corner-case studies and specification development.
  • Familiarity with lens OQC and IQC processes.
  • Knowledge of data pipelines, data automation, and data-driven analysis.
  • Experience building automated lens simulation pipelines and defining lens selection criteria based on data correlation.
  • Experience with failure analysis and corrective action for lenses and camera modules.
  • Strong understanding of optical characteristics in lenses and camera modules.
  • Familiarity with micro and macro lens active alignment.
  • Experience with lens and camera system reliability testing.
  • Experience with IP67/IP69 camera design.
