  The Technical Support Director reports to the CTO

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the CTO this position is a key player for managing the company's portfolio of new and used

Aircraft from an engineering support perspective and supporting the CTO with portfolio analysis. The Director Technical Support is the go-to person within the technical and Marketing teams for the examination of specification costs and creation of budgets for new aircraft, analysis of customer specifications for SLB’s and assisting with the management of the Macquarie AirFinance order book. Furthermore, this role supports the company's technical team on aircraft specifications and OEM and non-OEM modifications. This role also includes considerable interaction with other departments within the company, and external vendors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The individual will be responsible for the following tasks and functions:

  • Provide detailed cost analysis of each new aircraft specifications received in support of marketing proposals.
  • Develop BFE budgets for all new aircraft program placements.
  • Attend ITCM, both face to face and virtually in support of all new aircraft campaigns.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to the SVP Technical on technical specifications, and engineering assessment issues within lease agreements.
  • Assist with the review and discussion of maintenance reserve claims from customers.
  • Be a point of contact for the Airframe OEM’s and have a proven ability to negotiate commercial agreements with relevant suppliers.
  • Examination of aircraft specifications in support of used aircraft purchases and SLB marketing activity/proposals to ensure cost containment and maximum value is achieved.
  • Provide engineering technical input for internal transaction approval,
  • Manage the review and negotiation OEM product support contracts, coupled with a detailed understanding of warranty language within OEM agreements.
  • Manage negotiating general terms and maintenance service agreements with vendors, suppliers and OEMs.
  • Create, maintain and manage budgets for technical cost elements of new and used aircraft deliveries.
  • Keep up to date on all regulatory and jurisdictional issues, and mandates assessing how these impacts new aircraft, and make recommendations on the Company’s baseline specification.
  • Attend OEM operator conferences, as requested by the CTO with the view to understanding the issues associated with new aircraft programs.
  • Provide support with any other duties as requested from time to time

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Aeronautical Engineering or EASA Part 66 engineering license; or 5 years related experience working in the Aircraft Leasing Industry or an Airline, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Strong project management skills and ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong experience with technical cost management
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in aircraft specifications and BFE
  • Ability to make sound decisions applying technical, financial and risk factors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in corresponding with customers for whom English is a second language
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
