REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Vice President Trading reports to the SVP Head of Trading.
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible, in conjunction with the SVP Head of Trading and other members of the Leadership Team, for defining and implementing the commercial strategy on acquiring and selling aircraft and engines with lessors, financial institutions and other investors in the secondary market.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
•Develop and implement trading strategy that identifies target aircraft for sale and purchase and make recommendations to the SVP Head of Aircraft Trading and Leadership Team.
•Source acquisition opportunities from the secondary market at attractive returns, leading negotiations from initial award stage through to closing, whilst contributing to the internal approval process.
•Identify optimal exit strategies for aircraft in Macquarie AirFinance’s portfolio, which will encompass aircraft at every stage of their life cycle.
•Originate and close transactions to sell selected aircraft to other lessors, engine or parts specialists and financial investors.
•Provide portfolio analysis, asset evaluation and analytical output necessary for the execution of business portfolio strategy.
•Embrace market intelligence and provide useful market insight to the business.
•Work with colleagues across the business collaborating and driving all aspects of the execution of the commercial strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A qualification in finance, engineering or business, together with a post-graduate qualification, is desirable.
•6-8 years’ relevant industry experience having worked in a relevant trading role within an aircraft/ engine lessor and/or OEM. The successful candidate will have a strong network of industry contacts and a proven track record of closing transactions.
•Mathematical and analytical background, with strong understanding of financial modelling and an in-depth understanding of aircraft / engine acquisition and disposal.
•Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex transactions and a proven track record in sourcing and closing opportunities.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and nurture relationships with a diverse range of internal and industry colleagues.
•Strong commitment to deliver and exceed targets with a focus on continuous improvement in delivering operational excellence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Highly commercial, with a clear understanding of the commercial, contractual and technical aspects of aircraft sales, purchases and leasing transactions.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form and communicate logical opinions, both written and oral.
•A team player with a proven ability to motivate and lead a cross functional deal team.
•Strong problem solving, analytical and financial skills.
•A self-motivated and creative individual with the ability to work independently using own initiative.
•Strong relationship skills, that demonstrate an ability to develop business relationships and conduct negotiations.
