POSITION: On-Premise Sales Representative

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH

REPORTS TO: Sales Manager

COMPENSATION RANGE: $46,750.00 - $63,250.00
VARIABLE COMPENSATION: Up to $10,000 annually


POSITION SUMMARY:  The On-Premise Sales Representative works as a member of the Sales team to partner with on-premise retailers and wholesale distributors to ensure sales goals are met and customers feel valued. They will be warm and welcoming, exceed partner expectations, and work together to plant a better community. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors – Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focus 100% on selling our entire product portfolio, including MadTree beers and Sway ready-to-drink cocktails, into on-premise retail accounts.
  • Travel regularly in the market (Greater Cincinnati area) to service bars, restaurants, and other on-premise retailers and distributors; occasional travel for meetings and trainings outside of designated territory.
  • Develop and maintain close, positive, and productive relationships with distribution and retail partners.
  • Perform 50+ account sales calls per week and achieve specified quarterly sales goals (displays, promotions, placements, rate of sale, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships and secure new distribution and placements.
  • Deliver weekly sales recaps showcasing new package and draft placements, displays, and other sales activities relevant to our distributor partners.
  • Execute event activations such as tastings, samplings, staff trainings, and festivals to grow brand awareness and sales.
  • Improve brand position and visibility by setting up promotional displays, organizing draft tap handles and cooler space, and placing point-of-sale materials to increase brand awareness and product visibility.
  • Track execution progress in all identified accounts and against specific programming using digital tools such as VIP KARMA and VIP iDIG.
  • Proactively plan work weeks by identifying top-buying and non-buying accounts and develop a plan to establish or grow business in these accounts.
  • Provide a high level of service and exceed expectations with all customer interactions (distributor and on-premise accounts).
  • Operate effectively within company and budgetary guidelines.
  • Adhere to all state and federal laws pertaining to the sale, merchandising, and promotion of alcoholic beverages.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Enthusiastically spend a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • 1+ years outside sales experience selling to retailers and consumers, preferably working within a distribution network.
  • 1+ years of industry experience selling in the three-tier system is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the local market for craft beer and other alcoholic beverages is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

 

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Positive attitude with growth mindset; energetic, determined to succeed, and resilient with the ability to deal with new and difficult situations easily.
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends and holidays to support the needs of the business.
  • Valid driver's license with active auto insurance, safe driving record, and reliable vehicle; comfort with regular auto travel.
  • Working smartphone with data plan to access apps necessary to complete daily tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and maintain effective working relationships with distributors, top-level account decision makers, and all internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and organized with strong prioritization and planning skills; able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent oral, analytical, written, and group presentation communication skills.
  • High-level knowledge of the three-tier alcohol system.
  • High-level understanding of beverage distribution and working with distribution partners.
  • Proficient in digital technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, data entry, and organization.
  • Experience working with VIP iDIG/Karma preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 170 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

      The work environment is usually that of bars, restaurants, breweries, and distributor facilities.

      The employee frequently works in loud environments with background music and crowd noise.

      The employee occasionally works on wet floors and around food service equipment.

      The employee works flexible hours including evenings and weekends when venues are busiest.

      The employee regularly drives between multiple locations throughout the day.

The pay range for this role is:

46,750 - 63,250 USD per year (Oakley)
