About the role

As the OSP Construction Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing OSP Construction activities carried out by our Mainline contractors. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the work produced by our contractors not only meets but exceeds the highest quality standards, adheres to project designs, and stays within budget. This position requires exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—as you will need to collaborate effectively with state and local municipalities, as well as other utilities and departments.

What you'll do

  • Verify that all existing underground and aerial facilities are correctly located in accordance with the customer's requirements, city records, and field conditions.
  • Perform field evaluation of proposed projects and ensure alternative routing delivers the most cost-effective design for construction.
  • Ensure designs comply with the customers’ specifications and guidelines and remain within the allocated budget.
  • Proficiently coordinate with State and/or local municipalities as well as with other utilities or departments.
  • Coordinate all customer implementation activities, including site walk-throughs, hub and/or node placements, and subcontract labor.
  • Perform walkouts pre/post-construction.
  • Verify as-builts.
  • Troubleshoot any field issues with the build-out.
  • Provide weekly reports to management on construction activity.
  • Follow up with city municipalities regarding permitting issues.
  • Tracking all jobs and keeping the customer informed about project status and issues that may affect deadlines
  • Review and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Creating and maintaining project files and associated support documentation

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in OSP fiber optic construction in a similar role.
  • Familiar with the OSP construction standards, codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
  • Physical requirements include the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, extended driving, and lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects
  • Candidates must be willing to work overtime, be on call periodically for nights and weekends, and work as required to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Ability to travel frequently to various project sites.  Overnight travel may occasionally be required.
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Must reside in Columbia, SC or Greenville, SC.

The pay range for this role is:

55,000 - 60,000 USD per year (Remote (Columbia, South Carolina, US))
