Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor/Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substance abuse/addiction treatment and a passion for helping individuals navigate their recovery journey.  In this role, you'll help clients ages 18+ to break the cycle of addiction and return to their families and communities from a place of resilience. This role involves providing support, guidance, and counseling to clients dealing with substance use disorders, ensuring they receive the necessary tools and resources for a successful recovery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Completion of intake after pre-assessment.
  • Developing individualized service and treatment plans.
  • Presenting clients in treatment team meetings.
  • Conducting individual counseling sessions with clients. 
  • Conducting didactic lectures, client groups, and other therapeutic activities.
  • Maintaining contact with appropriate individuals.
  • Working hand and hand with Case Management, along with other teams involved in client treatment and recovery journey.
  • Supporting discharge and referral planning.
  • Responsible for meeting documentation requirements for all accreditations, state license guidelines and for billing purposes in a timely and complete manner. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education / Credentials

  • Master's degree in Addictions Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred. In lieu of Masters education, Bachelors education in related field with experience working in substance abuse/addiction treatment required. 
  • Certification required: CSAC (or under supervision)
  • License preferred: LSATP, LPC, LCSW, LMFT (or under supervision)

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working in a human service, substance abuse/addiction treatment or other related setting. 
  • Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation.
  • Experience with individual and group counseling.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Familiarity with 12-step recovery programs.
  • Documentation skills.
  • De-escalation skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Art therapy skills.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) fluency preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Direct care position
  • 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:30am-6:00pm (Residential) or 8:30am-5:00pm (PHP) with rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) once per month, some evenings, holidays, and weekends.

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 93,500 USD per year (Lynchburg )
