About the Team

Our Data team plays a key role in this mission, driving data-driven decisions across the company. They work closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership to shape strategy and fuel product development. Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in driving business outcomes through advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. You'll develop data products, conduct in-depth analyses, and deliver insights to inform decision-making. This role allows you to collaborate across teams, solve complex business problems, and make a meaningful impact on the company's strategic direction. 

You are expected to:

  • Model Development: Build and refine statistical and machine learning models to drive business outcomes.
  • Data Products: Develop self-service data products providing insights into market dynamics and competitive benchmarks.
  • Business Insights: Conduct analyses to identify growth opportunities and drive data-driven recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leadership, product, and engineering teams to execute experiments and scale platform strategies.
  • Tool Development & Visualization: Build analytical tools and dashboards to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills Needed:

  • 5+ years of industry experience post-academia, with an advanced degree in a quantitative field.
  • Expertise in statistical inference, study design, and machine learning modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and numeric programming languages.
  • Ability to manage, clean, and transform evolving datasets to derive accurate insights.
  • Ability to create compelling dashboards and visual narratives for communicating insights.


Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in real estate or financial services.
  • Background in optimization, causal inference, or macroeconomic modeling.
  • Analytic Engineering: Experience in transforming raw data into accessible, actionable insights for business decision-makers.


Compensation and Benefits

Mainstay’s compensation varies by U.S. geographic market to align with local labor costs. For most locations, the annual pay range for this position is $152,960–$215,100, while the base salary range for roles based in the SF Bay Area, Seattle, and New York City Metro area is $191,000–$239,000. Pay is based on location, skills, and experience, and your recruiter will confirm the specific range for your job location. Please note that remote roles are available in all U.S. states except Hawaii, Alaska, Montana, and U.S. Territories.
