What you'll do
As our first IT engineer at Mainstay, you will be our thought leader for how we scale, automate, execute an IT program (including hardware management) within the Mainstay business.  This role will be a mix of IT engineering and support. This is a career opportunity for you to build an IT program and support the Mainstay employees using your handiwork.  Mainstay employees work with an exceedingly high level of autonomy and ownership, and this role is no exception as you will lead and run IT for all of Mainstay.  While you will be the sole person responsible for IT at Mainstay, you will not be on an island.  We are a highly collaborative remote team, and this role will operate in heavy partnership with other senior and director level leaders at the business.

You are expected to:

  • Administer and oversee our full catalog of SaaS software – We have a mix of your typical productivity and HR SaaS alongside bespoke real estate solutions.  This role will be responsible for managing all of these tools, often in partnership with other business leaders, though you will be the thought leader on account provisioning, automations and integrations.
  • Lead our IT separation from Opendoor – Mainstay spun out from Opendoor in August of 2024, but we still have an ongoing multi-year initiative to fully separate the two companies.  A large component of separation is teasing apart many of our SaaS vendors, and at times identifying and migrating our data out of Opendoor vendors to our own.  This role will be a critical stakeholder and leader in this separation workstream.
  • General software support for all of Mainstay where we use 3rd party SaaS vendors – As more of our employee SaaS and backoff software moves under our own purview, we also need to support our employees using those tools. This role will have a material support component, but will also shape IT support processes in partnership with our HR and business leaders.
  • Build out our hardware and inventory management solution – Similar to our SaaS and productivity tooling needs, Mainstay is also in the midst of building a new solution for hardware and inventory management. This role will have a significant role in designing and implementing a solution for hardware and inventory management for all of Mainstay.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years in an IT function delivering a mix of software support and SaaS implementation / administration.
  • Experience with SAML/SCIM configurations, HRIS systems (rippling, workday, bamboo, etc.), HRIS automation, and IAM best practices.
  • Experience evaluating, administrating, and managing a breadth of SaaS tools, including critical productivity tools like Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Experience with hardware management, inventory management, remote management of laptops using tools like Jamf and apple business manager to manage hardware across a workforce
  • An individual with an exceedingly high level of ownership and autonomy. There is a reason this is a staff level role. We expect this person to own the entirety of our IT systems, programs, and support, with little oversight and an ability to identify their own mistakes and self correct.
  • Strong collaborative skills and experience working with director level business leadership.  While this role will be our only IT role, you will work closely with business leaders to ensure that all Mainstay employees have access to the software, services and hardware necessary for their jobs, while also receiving the necessary support when issues are encountered.
