About the role

  • The Vice President of Retail & Licensing will lead the company’s retail strategy and global licensing programs, driving revenue growth and brand expansion for our roster of clients. This role will oversee the development, execution, and management of wholesale partnerships, and licensing agreements with third-party partners. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership, a deep understanding of consumer products in the music and entertainment space, and a proven track record in scaling both retail and licensing businesses.

What you'll do


Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the overall retail and licensing strategy aligned with the company’s brand, financial goals, and artist/label partnerships.
  • Spearhead proactive business development initiatives by aggressively pursuing new licensing partnerships with licensees, brands, and retailers to develop compelling products and drive incremental revenue growth.
  • Research and assess emerging market trends, technologies, and consumer behaviors to inform growth strategy.
  • Proactively pursue joint ventures, co-branded products, and cross-industry collaborations.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of high-potential retail and licensing prospects.
  • Collaborate with Senior leadership on long-term growth planning, market positioning, and brand architecture.

Retail Operations

  • Oversee Retail Sales Manager to maximize brand retail footprint.
  • Collaborate with Brand Management to optimize merchandise lines and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Lead Retail Account Manager in online retail platforms like Amazon.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts with marketing, creative, and production teams to ensure consistent brand storytelling.

Licensing Management

  • Negotiate, structure, and manage licensing agreements with domestic and international partners for apparel, accessories, collectibles, and lifestyle products.
  • Ensure licensees uphold brand quality standards, compliance guidelines, and contractual obligations.
  • Explore and launch new product categories to expand market reach and revenue streams.

Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing retail and licensing teams.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and results-driven performance.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and key performance metrics.

Partnerships & Industry Engagement

  • Maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, agents, retailers, licensees, and industry stakeholders.
  • Stay current on market trends, consumer behavior, and emerging technologies in retail and licensing.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail, licensing, or brand management, preferably within music, entertainment, or lifestyle brands.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in complex licensing deals.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling retailer relationships and licensing programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for music culture, fan engagement, and brand-driven storytelling.
