As the Director of Workers Compensation at Martin & Company, you will play a critical role in delivering high-level expertise and strategic support across client engagements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, regulatory familiarity, and practical experience working with insurance carriers and related stakeholders to drive business strategy and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight

Lead the development and execution of Workers’ Compensation strategies, providing clear, actionable recommendations for internal and client stakeholders.  

  • Regulatory & Filing Strategy 

Direct the development and submission of rate, rule, and form filings while coordinating with actuarial and regulatory teams.  

  • Client Advisory

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior-level clients, participating in meetings and presenting complex findings to support their long-term goals. 

  • Industry Leadership

Maintain expert-level knowledge of Workers’ Compensation trends, legislative changes, and industry best practices to drive innovation.  

  • Team Leadership

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and collaborate across cross-functional teams, including analysts and project managers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Workers’ Compensation, including Large Deductible and Dividend Plans
  • In-depth knowledge of NCCI and Independent Bureau Loss Cost and Regulatory Changes.  
  • Familiarity with Statistical Reporting and Financial Data Calls is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior consultants and manage cross-functional project teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL).
  • Skill in managing high-stakes discussions with carriers, regulators, and legal counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and master new software and system platforms quickly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and client stakeholders.
  • Experience with the following is preferred: SERFF, Wrike software project management tool, APCIA, Wolters Kluwer, and IRMI.


Salary and Benefits

The base salary for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Final salary offer will be based on several factors, including commensurate experience, qualifications, and skills.
