About the role

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records and general ledger. This role performs advanced accounting functions, ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and supports the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. The Accounting Manager analyzes financial data, prepares financial reports, and assists leadership in maintaining strong internal controls and efficient accounting procedures. This position also provides guidance and support to accounting staff while working closely with the CFO and Assistant Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation prepared by accounting staff.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review complex accounting entries including accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset depreciation, and reclassification entries.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management.
  • Assist the CFO and Assistant Controller in developing and maintaining internal control procedures and financial reporting policies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficiencies within accounting workflows.
  • Oversee, review and prepare sales tax reporting and filing for multiple states using Avalara Sales tax software.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance analysis.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory accounting processes and assist with annual physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to Staff Accountants and other accounting personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with special financial analysis projects and strategic initiatives as requested by the Controller or senior leadership.
  • Support payroll, accounts payable, and other accounting functions as needed to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Review and prepare entries in Business Central accounting software and also Karmak, dealer management software, among other software systems utilized.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Bachelor’s degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience in a business or corporate accounting environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliations.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and leadership teams.

The pay range for this role is:

80,000 - 85,000 USD per year (Gainesville)
