Staff Accountant Overview
The Staff Accountant will be part of the Finance team, working in office with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to maintain the financial health and strategic financial planning of the company. The Accountant will report to the CFO and assist in the day-to-day accounting needs of the business. They will aid in all financial aspects of the organization, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and provide support in financial controls and strategic thinking.
Responsibilities and Duties
Overarching
· Partner closely with CFO in a collaborative approach to the financial needs, budget and forecasts.
· Maintain responsibility for general accounting needs to support management in decision making
· Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
· Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
· Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
· Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
· Excel in a fast-moving, growth-centric work environment.
Examples of the Specifics
· Manage all payroll processes.
· Manage all accounts payable processes
· Develop and oversee all general ledger and bookkeeping processes.
· Maintain policies and procedures for all company credit card processes.
· Prepare timely monthly and annual financial statements.
· Assist the CFO in preparation of cost report filings and gather tax related information.
· Additional duties as necessary.
Required (R) & Desired (D) Skills & Experience
· (R) Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or Economic
(R) Excellent verbal and written skills.
· (R) Excellent accounting software user and administration· (R) 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• (R) Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month- end/year end close process.
• (R) Strong knowledge of accounting principles/controls.
· (D) CPA or MBA.
• (D) Proven work experience as a Staff Accountant
