Overview:
At Measurabl, The Assistant Controller is primarily responsible for core operational accounting on a day-to-day basis, including monthly reporting and maintaining internal controls throughout the Finance Department. We are a scaling technology company and seek opportunities to leverage technology and innovation to solve for the core operational functions and abilities of the business. Additionally, experience in optimizing and driving core processes amongst a multitude of systems, with both an inter and intradepartmental awareness, and being able to effectively execute will provide for your success in this role.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Core Accounting
Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting functions and resources; provide intra and interdepartmental guidance on related areas.
Management of all aspects of the monthly close process, from calendaring and communicating with the team to ensuring the books are closed on a timely basis.
Manage the consolidation of two subsidiaries.
Management of sales tax documentation and filings through Avalara Avatax, ensuring compliance with state requirements and related deadlines.
Oversight and review of the commission structure and processes to ensure commissionable employees are compensated accurately and timely.
Preparation of monthly financial statements under GAAP, and reconciling of account balances and activity.
Annual Reporting
Review and analysis of the financial statements, including the balance sheet and income statement.
Advise management of any gaps in current reporting, with strategic insight and planning for correction.
Time/Project Management
Effective management of a team of accountants in an agile, high growth business environment.
Productive communication amongst the team as well as interdepartmental resources.
Prioritization of tasks to ensure that all core deadlines are met, while progressing larger initiatives of the department.
Ownership and accountability for the outcomes of your team.
Ad-hoc Technical Projects
Coordination with the technical accounting team to ensure that new accounting pronouncements are appropriately implemented into monthly accounting processing and reporting.
Assistance as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in future system implementations, and process optimizations and automation.
Successfully and timely accomplish Ad-hoc projects requested by the CFO and/or VP to support the business.
Education & Experience:
7+ years of experience in accounting with 2+ years working in a similar Assistant Controller-like role
CPA license or BS in Accounting is preferred
Supervisory experience required
Experience in the software technology industry preferred
Experience collaborating with teams (inter and intra departmental)
Familiarity with Xero, SaaSOptics, NetSuite, Hubspot, SalesForce, Spiff, Carta, or Avalara a plus
