Why Medallion Design:

Our three core product areas are Payer Enrollment, Credentialing, Health Systems and Provider and Admin Experience. Product Design plays a critical role in simplifying and unifying healthcare provider operations. We turn complex processes into usable flows for providers, build tools that speed admin work, and ground decisions in discovery to solve real pain. Our work, especially with automation and AI, is shaping the future of administrative operations.

About the role:

You’ll join a product vertical and work closely with PM, Engineering, Operations, and Engagement Managers to define strategy and scope for your product area. A central part of your role will be shaping features that leverage automation and AI—such as routing, data extraction, classification, summarization, and decision support.

You’ll lead discovery to uncover root causes, using interviews, experience mapping, and other methods with both internal and external users. From there, you’ll ship an MVP with a clear path to V2, defining what belongs in scope for V1, what should wait for V2, and what falls outside entirely to ensure your work moves seamlessly from concept to execution. Along the way, you’ll contribute reusable patterns to the design system and play an important role in building and sustaining our team culture as we grow.

Our work extends beyond the product itself. You’ll take an end-to-end view across your product vertical as well as the surrounding processes, communications, and policies. You’ll partner with Operations and Engagement Managers to ensure that off-platform processes are launched successfully and continue to stick.

This role reports to the Head of Design and base compensation for this role may land between $150,000-$200,000. In addition to base salary, Medallion offers equity, and benefits as part of the total compensation package. Many factors are considered when determining pay including: market data, geographic location, skills, qualifications, experience, and level.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading strategy and roadmap definition + leading research for the team
    • Set outcomes, define scope (define what’s in, out, or V2), and drive the research plan to inform decisions.
  • Collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Engagement Managers
    • Work as one team to align on goals, sequence work, and keep decisions moving.
  • Strong design fundamentals and craftsmanship
    • Raise the bar on IA, interaction flows, and visual polish across journeys.
  • Strong presentation skills and clear communication
    • Tell a simple story with crisp artifacts; share broadly and respond quickly.

    • Use a consistent, efficient approach that scales your work and helps the team.
  • Systems thinking and reuse across product areas
    • Ask “can this apply elsewhere?” and design patterns that work across Payer Enrollment, Credentialing, and Provider/Admin Experience; anticipate adjacent impact and avoid one-offs.

Mindset:

  • Curiosity first. You ask why, follow the data, walk the workflow, and talk to customers and ops. You learn fast.
  • Figure it out. You do not wait for perfect inputs or a full brief. You pull the thread, find the people, and create clarity when it is missing.
  • Service design lens. You think beyond the product, coordinating process, communications, and policy changes when needed.
  • Design for leverage. You learn how the system works, including automation and AI features, and create patterns that can be reused across product areas.
  • Owner mindset. You commit to outcomes, make and explain tradeoffs, and keep decisions moving.
  • Clarity. You communicate ideas simply, keep stakeholders aligned, and close loops quickly.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 7 years of product design experience or more, ideally in B2B SaaS. Healthcare operations, automation, or workflow products are a plus.
  • A portfolio with workflow simplification, system or pattern work, and shipped outcomes from MVP to V2,
