About the role

Product Design at Medallion plays a critical role in simplifying and unifying healthcare provider operations. We transform complex processes into intuitive flows for providers, build easy-to-use tools for admins, and empower our team with research to better understand specific pain points. We believe our design work is helping shape the future of administrative work.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer to join our growing team. You will report into the Head of Design and work across each of our product verticals. A key part of your responsibilities will be building and maintaining the design system for our internal and external facing applications. In addition to your project work, you’ll play an important role in cultivating our team culture as we grow.

The ideal candidate has deep empathy for people, a passion for simplifying complex problems, and an action-oriented mentality. 

Base compensation for this role is between $180,000-$210,000 depending on location and level. In addition to base salary, Medallion offers equity and benefits as part of the total compensation package. Many factors are considered when determining pay including: market data, geographic location, skills, qualifications, experience, and level.

What you'll do

  • You will work across each of our product verticals, unifying patterns and workflows to help the team work more effectively
  • You will be responsible for building and maintaining an expanding set of components in a cohesive design system
  • You will partner on strategic initiatives for both our internal platform and external applications, developing features to align with specific business goals
  • You will develop early hypotheses and advocate for specific research projects to bring teams closer to their audience
  • You will carry out exceptional design fundamentals, using visual principles to improve and standardize a high level of polish for the product
  • You will build interaction flows and diagrams to simplify complex information with thoughtful information architecture, showcasing various successful user journeys
  • You will demonstrate and champion the phases of a mature design process, optimizing and documenting methods for your peers
  • You will synthesize various stakeholder inputs and technical constraints to present compelling human-centered narratives

Qualifications

  • You need 7–10+ years of professional design experience
  • You need 2+ years of experience building and maintaining design systems
  • You need mastery in Figma and other applicable design software
  • You need relevant experience with different design methods and techniques
  • You need a résumé highlighting your education, employment history, and relevant skill set
  • You need an online or PDF portfolio (please include any passwords)
