About Middle East Institute
Founded in 1946, the Middle East Institute is the oldest Washington-based institution dedicated solely to the study of the Middle East. It is a non-partisan think tank providing expert policy analysis, educational and professional development services, and a hub for engaging with the region's arts and culture.
The Development Department at the Middle East Institute (MEI) focuses on increasing institutional capacity through strategic initiatives, including fundraising, membership, events, grants, and donor management. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development while working closely with the Chief Development Officer, Associate Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations, Development Coordinator, and Development Administrator.
Internship Overview:
We are seeking a motivated intern to assist the Development Department in various activities related to fundraising and relationship-building with individuals, corporations, and foundations. The intern will be engaged in a variety of tasks aimed at providing exposure to the inner workings of nonprofit development.
