Position Summary

  • We are seeking a highly driven and independent undergraduate student to join our team for Summer 2026. This is a mission-critical role reporting directly to the Finance Director, spanning financial operations, data integrity, and congregant engagement. The ideal candidate blends a head for numbers with a heart for ministry. You must be prepared for the detailed, "gritty" work of cleaning up historical data, while possessing the professional maturity to lead high-visibility process improvements and manage volunteer teams.

Essential Functions


This role is designed to split your time between essential operational maintenance and strategic project leadership.

Process Improvement & Financial Reporting

  • Vendor Onboarding: Analyze the current workflow and implement a streamlined process for onboarding new vendors to enhance compliance and efficiency.
  • Financial Transparency: Assist the Finance Director in redesigning key financial reports to increase clarity and transparency for non-financial staff and leadership.

Stewardship & Ministry Engagement

  • Congregant Connection: Lead a project to refine how we connect with new congregants and givers, ensuring they are successfully integrated into the various ministries across Menlo.
  • Volunteer Leadership: Assist in the launch and onboarding of a brand-new Stewardship Volunteer Team, helping to build the operational structure for this ministry group.

Data Integrity & Historical Records

  • Record Cleanup: Undertake the essential work of auditing and cleaning up older historical financial records to ensure our database is accurate and ready for future growth.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Current undergraduate student (completed at least one full year of study).
  • Concentration: Majoring or minoring in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Demonstrated interest in the nonprofit sector, church administration, or ministry operations.

Skills & Traits

  • Independent Starter: Ability to take a high-level prompt, define the solution, and execute the work without requiring constant supervision.
  • Humble & Hungry: Eager to learn and not afraid of "grunt work" (filing, data cleanup), understanding its value to the big picture.
  • Analytical: Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot patterns and discrepancies in data.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in Excel; ability to quickly learn and utilize new software and database systems.

Work Conditions

  • This is a part time role. Hours of work are scheduled from Monday-Friday.
  • This job operates onsite at an office location in a church setting with chapel, storage, & classrooms. The main location will be the Menlo Park central offices, with occasional presence required at other campuses as needed.

The pay range for this role is:

19 - 25 USD per hour (Menlo Park)
