POSITION SUMMARY 

The Kirk House Summer Internship focuses on providing a person interested in a career in teaching/education with an opportunity to learn about the running of a preschool while building trust and relationships, executing quality ECE curriculum, and creating space for young students and families to connect with one another and grow during the summer.  Intern will play a key role in helping execute a safe, engaging and skill-building early childhood education program.  The intern will help, under the supervision of a qualified teacher, to set up and clean classroom spaces, prepare art projects, prepare and distribute snacks, supervise and guide children, and assist in the safe execution of all aspects of the summer camp program.  As a part of their time, interns will be coached and supported by the KHP director, Kids Director, and Kirk House teachers. The position would report to the Kids Director. 

This internship program is for the summer camps of 2025 (July 7th - August 8th) from 9am to 1pm, approximately 25 hrs per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supervise young children through a variety of movement, art, outdoor and playbased activities under the direct supervision of a qualified teacher
  2. Clean up indoor and outdoor spaces
  3. Prepare and distribute snack trays, supervise children while eating
  4. Assist in the preparation of daily activities 
  5. Support children in their verbal, physical and social/emotional development
  6. Partner with the Kirk House teachers to deliver a high quality early childhood educational experience at our summer camps 
  7. Additional duties and special projects as assigned by Kirk House staff

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required Education and Experience 

  • High School graduate or above
  • Interest in bringing young children and families closer to Jesus Christ
  • Interest in a career in education/teaching 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Positive attitude and a desire to learn
  • Team player and team builder  
  • Enjoys working with young children, and has previous experience working with young children
  • Willing to jump in where needed with flexibility and and work ethic
  • Can provide solid reference to attest to previous work experience with young children, and general work ethic and attitude

20 - 25 USD per hour (Menlo Park)
