Assistant Loading Zone Manager

Job Summary:
The Assistant Loading Zone Manager will help the Loading Zone Manager in all wagon loading operations to ensure a safe, functioning, and fun environment. Tasks will include, but will not be limited to, making sure that all Loading staff members have all needed supplies and guidance, pre/postseason setup and cleanup, problem-solving skills, staffing management, hiring staff, training new staff, and creating and maintaining the schedule. The assistant manager will be responsible for overseeing Loading Zone operations when the Loading Manager is not present. Our mission is to provide a safe and fun experience for both guests and team members alike. This is a working manager position.
Requirements:
● Must be 18 years of age with legal identification.
● Ability to reach, bend, stoop, crouch, and climb stairs
● Able to lift 40-50 pounds as needed.
● Capable of standing during the entire shift, if needed.
● Able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
● Flexibility in moving around and being where they are needed.
Responsibilities:
● Assists with hiring staff.
● With the help of the manager, sends out reminders to staff with important information (preparing for weather, announcements, how busy the night is expected to be, etc.)
● Helps train new and existing crew members for all positions (ticket punching, stanchion loading, speech, etc.)
● Must have exceptional communication skills.
● Creates and maintains employee work and training schedules.
○ Maintaining shift drops, swaps, and call outs.
○ Creates a weekly schedule for all employees based on employee availability.
● Acts as manager on duty, opens and closes, fills in where needed
● Enforces Dead End policies and standards
● Assists with writing out write ups and disciplinary action forms.
● Sits in on any employee disciplinary action meetings and talks.
● Upload signed disciplinary action forms into employee profiles in the HR system.
● Completes other duties as assigned.
● Call staff to fill in on nights with high call outs prior to the gates opening.
● Assists on orientation day(s)
● Goes through orientation and training for mid-season hires.
● Checks in with HR personnel to be sure the Loading staff has all of their paperwork and information completed
● Assists manager with determining potential pay increases at the end of the season.
● Monitors employee clock ins / clock outs to be sure staff isn't clocking in before designated shift times, and clock outs are not being dragged out. Notify the Loading Manager of any discrepancies in this matter.
● Maintains employee notes (both positive and negative) in the HR system throughout the season.
● Help offboard employees at the end of the season and implement any final notes on the employee file while doing so.
● Act as a fill in Loading Zone Manager when the Manager is not scheduled to be on for that date.
● Helps maintain traffic flow in the Loading Zone by making sure wagons are ready to go on the loading side before the tractor timer gets to zero.
● Add any interested employees into the facebook posse page.
● Actively works alongside staff in the area that needs help the most at the time.
● Checks in on staff frequently, and helps them grab necessary materials to minimize calls over the radio system.
Etiquette:
● Personal conflicts with other coworkers will not be brought into the workplace, and in a leading position, management staff will not treat staff differently for any disagreements, personal issues with other staff members, or if the worker brings an issue or question up that they do not agree with.
● Problems will be addressed in a timely manner and appropriately taken care of.
● Disciplinary actions, suspensions, and firings will be respectful and well planned out, while still getting the point across.
● Communication messages, emails, and texts from managers, acting staff, or other departments will be answered in a timely manner.
● Any problems this role cannot solve will be brought up to the correct individual to help take care of the situation.
● Being this is a lead position, there will be no fraternization or romantic involvement with managers of this role, or staff this role oversees UNLESS there is a pre-existing relationship prior to season start, in which case the direct manager must be notified about before the season start.
