Part-Time Bookkeeper

Position Summary - Team Member, Part-Time

  • Availability needed: Flexible work schedule of around 20 hours a week, some weeks can be more, some less depending on the monthly accounting cycle
  • Number of hours per week: approximately 20; will fluctuate per business demands and can grow based on desire for additional hours. The position will eventually grow to a full-time role but is starting off as part-time
  • Minimum availability of 20 hours per week during normal business hours
  • Compensation: $18/hr, DOE

Position Summary

The Bookkeeper is responsible for performing general accounting functions for a broad client base. This position is part-time, hourly, and completely remote. The Bookkeeper will report to the CEO & CFO but will work with several members of the team to ensure accurate accounting and timely client service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare, submit, and review financial statements with clients
  • Communicate as needed with other staff and clients by answering questions and reviewing client transactions
  • Reconcile and understand balance sheet accounts
  • Assist clients with appropriate accounting policies and procedures
  • Understand journal entries
  • Review and complete the month-end closing process for various clients
  • Categorize expenses and reconcile accounts
  • Review, process, and submit payroll through 3rd party vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field
  • 1+ years of experience with Quickbooks Online (certified a plus or willing to become certified within 180 days of hire; we can provide access to the training and test. However, the time spent on certification is not billable to Milrich)
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Competency in MS Office, QuickBooks, or other accounting software
  • Established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
  • Effective communication skills and ability to make decisions
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Proven ability to work independently and coordinate with team members as necessary
  • Ability to apply discretion with confidential information

  • This position requires periods of time at a computer
  • Reliable internet access
