The Role


Let's cut to the chase - we're looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy IT Desktop Support Specialist with a focus on Apple devices to join our IT team. This role will be pivotal in managing, maintaining, and deploying Mac devices using Mosyle, ensuring adherence to best practices, and implementing cybersecurity policies as directed by the CTO. This role is full time, Monday - Friday. We are a hybrid work environment with 3 days a week in the office (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) with optional remote days (Wednesday, Friday). You will need to be located in the Kelowna area and be able to reliably commute into the office downtown Kelowna in the Innovation Center.

  • Expected start date for this role is March 2025
  • Salary Range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 CAD annually


What You'll Do


As a vital member of the IT/Admin team, you'll play a key role as a Desktop Support Specialist owning the following areas

Desktop Support:

  • Provide technical support for Mac devices, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications and operating systems on Mac devices.
  • Assist users with system updates, backups, and account recovery, onboarding/offboarding Google Workspace and Saas applications used throughout the company.
  • Maintaining office meeting and conferencing rooms to ensure good working order.

Device lifecycle Management:

  • Manage the deployment and lifecycle of Mac devices across the business..
  • Monitor and maintain Mosyle configurations to support seamless IT operations.
  • Manage the deployment and lifecycle of Mac devices using Mosyle.

Cybersecurity and Policy Implementation:

  • Roll out and uphold cybersecurity policies and best practices as outlined by the CTO.
  • Educate staff on proper device usage and security protocols.
  • Monitor for and address security vulnerabilities or breaches promptly.

Best Practices:

  • Develop and maintain documentation for IT processes, device management, and support procedures.
  • Proactively identify and recommend improvements to current IT practices.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT standards and best practices.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the CTO and other departments to understand IT needs and implement solutions.
  • Provide training and support to technical and non-technical end-users to enhance their experience in the company.
  • Escalate unresolved issues when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree or certificates in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2-4 years in IT desktop support, with a strong focus on Mac devices.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in managing Mac devices and macOS.
    • Hands-on experience with Mosyle or similar MDM solutions.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and tools.
    • Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting skills
    • Strong understanding of SSO and providers like Okta
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Bonus points for:

  • Certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or CompTIA IT Fundamentals+.
  • Experience in deploying and managing endpoint security solutions such as ESET, Crowdstrike, etc
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills
