About The Role

As the Head of Risk Analytics, you will provide actuarial expertise, particularly in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance and catastrophe (cat) modelling. You will collaborate closely with the internal team to build and refine alternative risk transfer solutions for our clients.

 

Your insights and modelling will be integral in shaping customized, data-driven risk strategies, enabling clients to make informed decisions and better manage their exposures.


What You'll Do

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance P&C actuarial models to assess risk, pricing, and profitability of insurance products. 
  • Actively participate in business meetings and contribute to business development initiatives within the Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) space by offering actuarial insights and supporting client engagement strategies. 
  • Lead catastrophe modelling efforts using industry-standard tools to assess and quantify catastrophic risk. 
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis, stress testing, and scenario modelling to evaluate risk transfer strategies and product performance. 
  • Collaborate with product and underwriting teams to design and optimize alternative risk transfer structures. 
  • Utilize @Risk modelling tools and other statistical software to build and refine actuarial models. 
  • Present findings and recommendations to team members, stakeholders, and clients, providing clear insights into underlying risks and their financial implications. 
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging risks, and advancements in modelling techniques to ensure best practices are applied. 
  • Assist in pricing and structuring non-traditional insurance products for clients within the ART space. 
  • Develop automated tools and processes to streamline actuarial functions.

Required Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of actuarial experience, with a strong focus on P&C insurance and catastrophe modelling. 
  • Proficiency in @Risk or similar risk modelling tools. 
  • Experience with Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) structures such as structured insurance, risk retention/financing programs, aggregate loss protection, and captives is a strong plus. 
  • In-depth understanding of catastrophe risk and the ability to interpret and apply complex models. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing large and complex datasets. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Highly proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to thrive in a remote, fast paced, and evolving startup environment. 
  • Professional actuarial designation preferred (FCAS, ACAS or equivalent).

This is a remote position. Planned, in-office activities may be required on occasion (typically 2-4x per year).
