About the role

You have the opportunity to join MZT at a pivotal point in our company's history - our transition from an early-stage R&D startup into a product offering, revenue-generating company poised to rapidly scale our direct-air capture technology across the world.

Mission Zero Technologies is looking for a seasoned People Operations & Office Manager to ensure operational excellence across all HR functions and office management. This role is integral to maintaining our company culture and operational efficiency, offering a unique chance to support our strategic and operational initiatives.

The role will be primarily on-site for our headquarters in central London (60%), with hybrid working for the balance (40%) being the preferred model.


What you'll be doing

People Operations

  • HR Generalist Duties: Manage HR policies and processes across all domains, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.

  • Payroll Management: Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely execution for all employees. Managing payroll schedules, processing pensions, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. 

  • HRIS Systems and Data Integrity: Manage and maintain the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Regularly update employee information and generate reports as needed.

  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, interviewing, and onboarding new employees to ensure a smooth integration into the company.

  • Employee Relations: Act as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, fostering a positive work environment and addressing any issues that arise promptly and effectively.

  • Performance Management: Manage performance review processes, supporting managers in conducting comprehensive and constructive employee evaluations.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

  • Maintain People Calendar Schedules: Manage and maintain all people-related cyclical calendar items, such as performance reviews, training sessions, and company-wide meetings.

  • Other Ad Hoc tasks as assigned from time to time

Office Management

  • Office Administration: Oversee day-to-day office operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and office supplies procurement to ensure a well-functioning and efficient workplace.

  • Event Coordination: Organise and manage company events and socials, ensuring all logistics are handled smoothly and the events promote team cohesion and morale.

  • Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure smooth office operations and manage contracts and relationships effectively.

  • Facilities Management: Oversee office facilities, including ordering for the pantry, replenishing stock, and maintaining a comfortable and functional work environment.


What you'll need to be successful in this role
  • Extensive People Operations Experience: At least 7 years of experience in a broad HR role, with significant exposure to all HR domains including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.

  • Office Management Experience: Proven experience in managing office operations and administrative functions with willingness to be in the office 2-3 days/week.

  • HRIS Experience: Proficient in managing HRIS systems with a strong focus on data integrity and accuracy.

  • Excellent Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organisation.

  • Proactive Attitude: A self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.


Ideally you'll also have
  • Experience in a Startup Environment: Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in fast-paced work environments.

  • Background in Climate Tech or related: Knowledge of or experience in the climate tech sector, tech or engineering company.

  • Event Planning Experience: Proven experience in organising and managing company events and social activities.

  • Vendor and Facilities Management: Experience in managing vendor relationships and overseeing office facilities.

  • Multi-Site Experience: Prior experience managing multiple locations and/or remote workspaces
