About the Position

Overview:

The mission of Montara Therapeutics is to develop innovative therapies for diseases of the brain by leveraging our proprietary BrainOnly platform to enhance drug safety and efficacy and enable the drugging of targets previously considered undruggable. Many promising drug candidates for neurological or neurodegenerative diseases fail to advance due to dose-limiting, off-tissue peripheral toxicities, which impede both safety and efficacy. BrainOnly is a breakthrough platform that aims to prevent peripheral adverse events associated with neuroscience drugs. It holds the potential to deliver a new generation of brain-targeted therapeutics.


The Senior Research Associate, Pharmacology, will support the Pharmacology team in performing drug efficacy experiments using a wide variety of analytical techniques, including ELISA and immunoblotting. Candidates must be able to work semi-independently and within a highly motivated, cohesive, and collaborative team environment. They should be detail-oriented, practice meticulous record-keeping, have excellent communication skills, be dependable and efficient, and be willing to learn new techniques.


Job Requirements:

  • Basic biochemical and molecular biology assays (Western blots, genotyping, immunohistochemistry, qPCR).
  • Mouse handling and husbandry.
  • Mouse surgery/dissection.
  • Mouse in-life/survival procedures (please state specific experience in application).


Qualifications:

  • BS in life sciences field - Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, etc.
  • BSc (10+ years experience)/PhD (2+ years experience).
  • Advanced knowledge of chemistry principles and statistics.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience, e.g., research internships, paid positions.
  • Can generate consistent data from day to day, for example in cases where the same assay is used daily.
  • Experience with biomarker data analysis plans, including data interpretation and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Google Suites, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary & Benefits

Salary:

  • $130,000 - $145,000 - based on experience, education, and qualifications
  • Annual and spot bonus opportunities
