Motion

Senior Product Manager

About Motion

Motion is a North American transportation solutions company helping fleets save money, move smarter, and operate more efficiently. We partner with carriers of all sizes to provide access to discounted fuel programs, flexible financial services, and powerful digital tools that simplify fleet operations.

Our mission is to remove the friction that trucking companies face every day—whether that’s managing costs on the road, streamlining back-office processes, or unlocking new ways to grow their business. With Motion, carriers gain a trusted partner who understands the realities of the industry and is building modern solutions to keep them moving forward.

The Role

We’re hiring a Product Manager to help define and ship a new set of platform capabilities. This role is heavy on PRDs, workflow design, and edge-case thinking. You’ll work closely with the founder, design, and engineering to take ideas from concept → specification → production, and iterate with real users.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys building operational systems(not just UI), where reliability, state transitions, auditability, and clear “ready vs blocked” logic matter.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead product discovery and feature definition
    • Translate real operational problems into clear product requirements and workflows
  • Write PRDs that engineering can ship from
    • Problem statements, scope, user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, edge cases
  • Define “V1” and ship in thin slices
    • Make tradeoffs, set boundaries, and sequence work to deliver value quickly
  • Design workflows and rules
    • Status models, validations, exceptions handling, permissions, audit history, and notification triggers
  • Partner with design + engineering
    • Collaborate on UX flows, ensure requirements are complete, and support implementation decisions
  • Support pilots and feedback loops
    • Gather feedback from early users, synthesize insights, and iterate product scope accordingly
  • Build cross-module integration specs
    • Define how data and workflows connect across product areas (including financial or transaction-adjacent components)

What Success Looks Like (First 60–90 Days)

  • A clear V1 scope with explicit in-scope/out-of-scope boundaries
  • A roadmap broken into shippable increments
  • 5–10 high-quality PRDs for core workflows and platform capabilities
  • A consistent approach to workflow states, exceptions, and auditability
  • A running feedback loop with pilot users and a plan based on learnings

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience as a Product Manager / Technical PM on B2B SaaS
  • Strong PRD writing skills with clear acceptance criteria and edge cases
  • Strong systems thinking: you can define workflows, state machines, and operational rules
  • Ability to work closely with engineers and designers in a fast-moving environment
  • Comfortable making tradeoffs and keeping teams aligned on what “done” means

Nice to Have

  • Experience with operational workflow products (e.g., internal tools, compliance workflows, billing/finance-adjacent flows, document-heavy processes)
  • Experience defining integrations between product modules or external systems
  • Familiarity with audit logging, permissions/roles, and exception handling patterns

How We Work

  • High ownership, fast iteration, and clear written communication
  • We ship weekly and learn from real usage
  • We value crisp scope control and strong product judgment
