Summary

The Director of Marketing and Communications (B2B) is responsible for shaping MSA’s brand narrative, managing strategic communications, and creating content that elevates the company’s market position and optimizes the marketing funnel at all stages. This role emphasizes strategy development, storytelling, content creation, and external communications to amplify MSA’s message. The Director will partner closely with leaders across the company to ensure consistency and cohesion across all communications and marketing materials. As a strategic leader with strong communication skills, the Director of Marketing will guide the marketing team, build campaigns that resonate with target audiences, and leverage our outcomes and data findings to drive a leadership position in the financial wellness space. 



Key Responsibilities

Brand Narrative Development 

In collaboration with our marketing writer, craft and refine MSA’s brand story, ensuring all messaging aligns with the company’s mission, values, and goals for each target audience. Develop content that establishes MSA as a trusted partner in financial well-being.


Content Strategy and Creation 

Lead the creation of high-quality content, including social media, newsletters, blogs, sales collateral & decks, educational decks, and member messaging. Collaborate with other leaders to ensure that all communication reflects the company’s strategic vision and resonates with target audiences. 


Public Facing Website Content 

Own the strategy and content of the public facing website, ensuring that MSA’s web presence is impactful and relevant for target audiences in a way that contributes to conversion efforts. 


Content Calendar Coordination 

Oversee company-wide content communication calendar strategy and coordination to maintain a consistent and impactful content stream for all stakeholders. 


Marketing Funnel Optimization
Analyze the entire marketing funnel, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Implement A/B testing and conversion rate optimization strategies to maximize effectiveness at each stage.


Digital Marketing Tools and Technologies
Leverage marketing automation platforms and CRM systems to track lead progress, measure ROI, and scale campaigns effectively, ensuring efficient use of resources.


Marketing Team Leadership
Provide strategic direction and mentorship to the marketing team, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Success Metrics

Content Engagement Metrics 

Track engagement levels on marketing assets, such as views, shares, comments, and time spent on page, to measure the impact of narratives and strategic communications.


Brand Awareness Score 

Monitor brand awareness through regular surveys and analytics, assessing how well MSA’s message is resonating with target audiences.


Social Media Reach and Engagement 

Measure the growth and engagement of MSA’s social media channels, including social followers, interaction rates, and content performance.


Marketing Funnel Conversion Rates
Evaluate conversion rates at each stage of the funnel to identify areas for improvement and increase overall effectiveness.


Digital Campaign ROI
Monitor ROI across digital channels, tracking engagement and conversion metrics to ensure resource efficiency and campaign success.

Storytelling and Writing 

Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content that aligns with MSA’s mission and resonates with B2B audiences.


Strategic Content Creation and Management 

Proficiency in content strategy,  planning, creation, and distribution, with experience using content management and scheduling tools.


Digital Marketing Proficiency
In-depth knowledge of digital channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, content, and email marketing, plus expertise in marketing automation and CRM systems.


Data-Driven Decision Making
Skilled in leveraging data analytics to guide campaign strategy and optimize marketing effectiveness, ensuring decisions are backed by measurable insights.


Strategic Leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Experience working cross-functionally to align marketing and communication efforts with broader business objectives. 


Communication and Collaboration
Exceptional communicator with the ability to articulate strategies clearly to executive leadership, while effectively partnering with Growth, Product, and other teams.



Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of B2B marketing experience, including demand generation and digital marketing.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading and developing marketing teams, fostering a results-driven and collaborative culture.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful content and communication strategies.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio showcasing various content types.
  • Expertise in marketing automation (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work closely with data specialists.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or financial industries a plus



Working Context

  • This is a full-time hybrid position in the greater Sacramento area, involving occasional work at the company Roseville headquarters. 
  • Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, industry conferences, and executive meetings.

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 140,000 USD per year (California)
