People Operations Specialist

Every day, millions of vehicle owners depend on dealership service departments to keep them on the road. We build the software that helps those service teams communicate with customers, schedule repairs, approve work, collect payments, and deliver a better experience from start to finish.

myKaarma is a leading SaaS platform serving dealerships across North America. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, with a global team, we're growing by solving real operational problems with practical technology.

We believe the best ideas come from people who take ownership, question how things can be improved, and care deeply about the customer experience. If you're excited to build products that have measurable impact, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role

At myKaarma, being helpful does not always mean immediately completing the request in front of you. We expect people to understand the underlying need, examine how the work currently happens, and identify the root cause before recommending a solution.

In this role, that means asking thoughtful questions, looking for the simplest and most effective solution, avoid adding unnecessary steps or processes, and use technology only when it improves the work rather than complicates it. When a process is working, you will help make it clear and repeatable; when it is not, you will use evidence, experimentation, and feedback to improve it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a first-line HR resource for employees and managers, helping them navigate policies, benefits, leaves, performance concerns, and workplace issues.
  • Support employee relations matters through intake, fact gathering, documentation, policy review, and appropriate escalation of complex or higher-risk situations.
  • Administer benefits and leaves of absence, including employee communication, documentation, vendor coordination, payroll updates, and return-to-work planning.
  • Facilitate recurring People programs, including engagement surveys and performance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and manage employee changes, contracts, and documentation within the HRIS and related systems.
  • Prepare recurring People reports, validate workforce data, investigate discrepancies, and support audits and compliance tracking.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding to provide employees and managers with a consistent and well-managed experience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through clearer documentation, automation, AI, and better use of People systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist, People Operations, or comparable human resources role.
  • Experience directly supporting employees and managers, including exposure to employee relations and performance-related matters.
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration, leaves of absence, employee documentation, compliance, and the employee lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain policies, processes, and next steps clearly.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to balance recurring operational work with unpredictable employee needs.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms, reporting tools, and workplace technology to administer and improve HR processes.

Nice to Have Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting California-based employees or a workforce operating across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience in a growing SaaS, technology, or similarly fast-changing organization.
  • Familiarity with Rippling, Leapsome, or comparable HR and talent-management platforms.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or another relevant HR certification.

We know great candidates don't always match every requirement. If this role excites you and your experience aligns with many of the qualifications, we'd encourage you to apply. Skills can be learned—we also value curiosity, ownership, and a willingness to grow.
