Role Description:
As a Senior DBA, you will play a key role in the Data Team at myKaarma, working to ensure the security, stability, and optimal performance of all core production data assets. You will be responsible for driving infrastructure automation, enforcing operational readiness, and providing expert-level polyglot database tuning and will collaborate closely with Application Architects and Engineering Teams to achieve systemic reliability and highly efficient query resolution. This role offers the chance to work with a talented team and develop expertise in high-scale cloud data solutions and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Key Responsibilities: 

• System Ownership & Due Diligence: Assume full end-to-end ownership of data security, integrity, and operational readiness for all production stores (Aurora/MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis).
• Infrastructure Automation: Design and maintain database configurations using tools such as Ansible to achieve faster, consistent deployments across the fleet.
• Advanced Tuning: Provide deep-level performance tuning, query optimization, and schema guidance.
• Operational Readiness: Direct complex operational tasks, including enforcing strict standards for backups, disaster recovery, and ensuring smooth replica switchover capabilities.
• Proactive Monitoring: Leverage observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana) to establish predictive failure models, rapidly troubleshoot regressions, and maintain a high-quality knowledge base. Proactively find and optimize queries.
• Collaboration: Partner with development teams to implement optimized SQL/NoSQL query strategies and stored procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience

• 5+ years of dedicated experience as a DBA in a mission-critical, high-traffic environment
• Proficiency in MySQL/Aurora and MariaDB for deep tuning and troubleshooting.
• Strong working knowledge of MongoDB and ElasticSearch.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management (Ansible is highly preferred) or other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated history of follow-through, strong ownership, and meticulous diligence.
• In-depth knowledge of database structure, systems, and automation techniques.

Nice to Have Skills & Qualifications 

• Experience with other components of the technology stack (e.g., Python, Kafka, Redis, MaxScale).
• Experience with data lineage
