Test Lab Technician

About Mytra:

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

About the Role:

Mytra's Systems Integration and Test team is seeking a dedicated Test Lab Technician to support advanced testing operations for warehouse robotics and mechatronics systems.

As a Lab Technician, you'll be the hands-on backbone of our testing operations, preparing test setups, maintaining equipment, and executing structured test procedures across mechanical and mechatronics validation programs. You'll work closely with Test Engineers to ensure smooth laboratory operations, accurate data collection, and reliable test execution that keeps our engineering teams moving at full speed.

This role requires on-site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters.

Example Projects:

  • Execute tests for mechanical and mechatronics systems, running hardware performance validation, actuator characterization, and reliability tests, while maintaining detailed test logs and documentation
  • Prepare and maintain test fixtures, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment, performing routine calibration of load cells, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability
  • Support test setup and teardown operations for complex validation campaigns, assembling test specimens, configuring instrumentation layouts, and preparing hydraulic test systems for structural testing programs
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment, identifying equipment issues, coordinating repairs, and maintaining inventory of test consumables and spare parts to minimize testing downtime
  • Collect and organize test data for engineering analysis, ensuring proper data capture, file organization, and preliminary quality checks before handoff to engineering teams for detailed analysis

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or technical testing environments with electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, precision measurement equipment, and basic instrumentation
  • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and maintain accurate documentation and test records
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and safety protocols for high-force mechanical testing equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to safety procedures and quality standards
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, or equivalent technical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with precision sensor installation and application, including strain gauge bonding, accelerometer mounting, and proper signal conditioning techniques for accurate mechanical measurements
  • You thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment where priorities shift and you're comfortable adapting to new test procedures and equipment
  • You have excellent organizational skills and take pride in maintaining clean, efficient, and well-organized laboratory spaces
  • You're a reliable team player who can work independently on routine tasks, while knowing when to escalate technical issues to engineers
  • You're excited about supporting cutting-edge robotics development and being part of a team that's building the future of warehouse automation
  • Uncertainty isn't scary, and you're willing to realize mistakes and pivot
  • You value openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition

A Final Note:

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.
