About Mytra:
We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.
About the role:
Mytra is changing warehouse automation and needs someone who has experience with standard industrial controls and embedded systems. This person will use both of those skillsets to break industrial automation free from its outdated tooling and propel it into the modern world.
As a Staff Automation Controls Engineer you will be responsible for the hardware interfacing between customers, and Mytra robots. You will design and maintain safety and mission critical hardware that is highly robust, debuggable, and fast. You will be responsible for determining the optimal blend of off the shelf and custom hardware solutions to solve complex electro-mechanical problems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with firmware and PCBA design engineers to determine the ideal balance between off the shelf and custom in house embedded hardware
- Design high voltage, low voltage, and I/O electrical cabinets for an automated pallet storage system
- Select and integrate a turntable that can rotate a 3,000 pound pallet 360 degrees
- Develop hardware that enables embedded systems to have PLC-esque expandable I/O
Qualifications:
- A burning desire to design, build, and integrate better automation and automation tooling
- Experience selecting and integrating off the shelf automation equipment as well as developing in house embedded hardware
- Proficiency with Beckhoff or Siemens controllers (including TwinSAFE and Siemens Safety)
- You have implemented machine automation projects in a production environment
- Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers and could replace off the shelf systems where necessary
- Electrical panel design using ePLAN or AutoCAD
- Experience debugging and fixing complex electro-mechanical systems with a strong hands-on approach to expertly building and reworking electro-mechanical systems
- Available for infrequent domestic travel (between 0% - 10% annually) to support integration and test activities at customer sites
- Embraces uncertainty and is willing to realize mistakes and pivot
- Can effectively convey complex ideas and technical concepts to a diverse audience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience writing and debugging C++ and/or Python
A Final Note:
You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We
work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who
are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.
Benefits Include:
- Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs
- Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance
- Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases
- Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table
- Flexible hours and flexible PTO
