Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is vital in supporting production operations through technical expertise, process improvement, and documentation management. This position works closely with operations, quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure efficient production, maintain quality standards, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assembly processes
- Develop, update, and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent product quality
- Manage and maintain tooling equipment, including calibration schedules, preventive maintenance, and inventory tracking
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
- Perform product builds and support first-article inspections to validate manufacturing processes
- Create and maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, including assembly procedures and quality requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements and resolve production issues
- Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and safety procedures
- Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support continuous improvement projects through data collection and analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and ability to convey with written and verbal communication
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent years of experience with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to write clear technical documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems
- Excellent communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to understand electrical schematic and assembly drawings.
- Physical capacity to independently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and carrying materials with prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facilities.
- Experience with basic mechanical assembly and shop tools.
- Ability to read drawings, interpret metric/imperial tolerances and measure parts for conformity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Experience with CAD software
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma
- Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Background in electronics manufacturing
Working Conditions
- Primary work location is in a manufacturing facility environment
- May require occasional overtime or weekend work to support production needs
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- May be exposed to noise, moving machinery, and various manufacturing materials

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment
- Visual acuity for reading technical documents and inspecting products
The pay range for this role is:
85,000 - 95,000 USD per year (South San Francisco)
