Staff Wireless Systems Engineer

About Mytra:

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

About the role:

Mytra’s Engineering team is looking for a dynamic and strategic wireless engineer to lead our wireless systems development as we bring warehouse robotics innovation to scale.

As the Staff Wireless Systems Engineer, you’ll own the wireless architecture development for reliability and scale of our entire system, covering both operational and safety communication streams. This role requires technical excellence, strategic vision, pragmatism, and flexibility, as well as the ability to drive complex systems from concept through to scale. You'll exercise wide latitude in exploring technologies and architectures, setting objectives and technical roadmaps, while serving as a key technical leader for the organization.

This role requires on-site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters, for close collaboration with the other teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze wireless subsystem requirements based on product requirements and use cases
  • Design and specify the wireless system architecture, algorithm, protocol, and procedure fitting the System-bot and bot-bot communication use cases with functional, quality, performance, footprint, and power requirements
  • Set system performance expectation for wireless subsystems and drive the wireless hardware/software system development with other cross-functional teams to optimize its performance in RF-dense, metal-rich environments
  • Interface and collaborate with wireless chipset vendors to select components that ensure the system requirements (such as RF/baseband performance, system control architecture, HW/SW interface architectures, and longer term technology roadmaps)
  • Analyze system performance issues and chipset/firmware/software defects, and improve broad system level performance
  • Design radio coex requirements and features across wireless technologies, analyzing use case performance in coex scenario, defining coex strategies that optimize performances

Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of wireless system engineering experience
  • In-depth understanding of wireless technologies (e.g. Wi-Fi, UWB) and performance in RF-dense, metal-rich environments
  • Experience in wireless feature design, modeling/simulation, and testing
  • Experience debugging system performance and problem solving in an analytical manner
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across a cross-functional organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of wireless system engineering experience
  • End-to-end experience testing wireless systems in both simulation and lab environments
  • Wide cross-functional team collaboration experience
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following programming or scripting languages: Matlab, Python, C/C++
  • Experiences with Wi-Fi, UWB standards

A Final Note:

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance
  • Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases
  • Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table
  • Flexible hours and flexible PTO
