Hardware Test Engineer, Robotics

About Mytra

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

Role Overview

Mytra's Systems Engineering team is seeking a mid-level Hardware Test Engineer to prepare, execute, and document tests on electro-mechanical systems. This role is on-site full time at our South San Francisco location, with infrequent offsite support duties (<5% work travel).

What You'll Do

  • Plan safe, efficient tests to verify performance and gather useful insights from electro-mechanical components.
  • Integrate first article mechanical systems, with the assistance of our in house R&D technicians and engineering teams.
  • Prepare both component and system level tests by developing fixturing, mounting sensors, configuring data acquisition, and making necessary hardware modifications to preform tests.
  • Lead test execution efforts to collect actionable data for our engineering and solutions teams. Examples include but are not limited to, long-duration accelerated lifetime testing, vibration and modal analysis testing, static proof load testing, mechanical performance verification, and system level validation testing.
  • Report test outcomes and serve as the technical authority across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, identifying integration risks based on observed performance data of our systems.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of hands-on, practical experience conducting structured testing in a lab or prototyping environment.
    • Basic familiarity with analog test Data Acquisition Systems and sensors such as accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, cameras, and LVITs.
    • A moderate familiarity with mechanical assembly and simple fabrication skills.
    • Understanding of the fundamental physics related to vibration, environmental, and reliability testing.
    • Understanding of safe working practices around active autonomous systems and suspended loads.
    • Ability to write clear, concise documentation of test plans, reports, and technical procedures.
  • Interest in working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
  • The ability to convey complex ideas and technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Adaptability & Self-Motivation: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Self-starter with a proactive mindset, committed to delivering accurate results.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple teams.

A Final Note

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

The pay range for this role is:

110,000 - 130,000 USD per year (Mytra)
