- Nema Health is a survivor- and clinician-led virtual treatment program for PTSD and trauma. We are on a mission to help all trauma survivors find lasting peace & healing. Nema provides virtual, evidence-based treatment that helps people feel better faster—and stay better longer. We are committed to delivering care that’s accessible, trauma-specialized, and deeply patient-centered.
- At Nema, we offer employees an unparalleled career opportunity: the chance to be part of a mission-driven company while shaping its future during a pivotal stage of growth. If you’re someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, values systems thinking, and cares deeply about expanding access to mental health care, you could be a great fit.
About the role
- Nema is looking for its founding Staff Analytics Engineer to build and lead Nema's data function spanning engineering, analytics, and governance. You will own the foundation that drives data excellence by fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, building trusted data infrastructure, and partnering cross-functionally to support self-service analytics.
- In this role, you will design and scale the data products, models, and analytical frameworks that power Nema’s operations, growth, and clinical excellence. This highly cross-functional role is ideal for a data professional who thrives at the intersection of technical depth and business insight—someone who can architect reliable systems, communicate clearly, scope ambiguous problems, and guide stakeholders toward data-informed decisions.
- You’ll operate with autonomy, influence without authority, and lay the groundwork for a future data team as Nema continues to grow. This role reports to the Head of Product.
Responsibilities
Data & Analytics Strategy
- Define and execute a company-wide data roadmap aligned with Nema’s business, clinical, and growth priorities.
- Translate strategic goals into measurable KPIs that enable clear performance tracking.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and automated reports that provide accurate, timely insights across the organization.
Tooling & Architecture
- Architect, model, and maintain clean, well-documented, and scalable data models using Nema’s modern data stack (dbt, BigQuery, Prefect, Sigma/ Omni).
- Evaluate and implement new tools and automations that reduce technical debt, improve reliability and performance.
- Scope, coordinate, and oversee external contractors/vendors for specialized ETL or data infrastructure work when additional capacity or expertise is required.
Data Governance
- Establish and monitor data quality tests to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency across key datasets.
- Lead data governance programs that ensure compliance with privacy and security standards such as HIPAA and GDPR.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders to define source-of-truth metrics, build reusable analytical frameworks, and reduce ambiguity in how we measure business performance and clinical quality.
- Collaborate with Product, Growth, Operations, Finance, and Clinical teams to understand their goals, translate questions into data problems, and deliver clear narratives and visualizations that drive decisions and action.
Qualifications
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Have 5-10 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or a related data discipline.
- Have demonstrated success aligning teams and delivering cross-functional data initiatives in high-growth environments.
- Possess strong SQL and data modeling skills, with hands-on experience using modern transformation tools such as dbt.
- Have experience with cloud data warehouses, data lake architecture, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Are proficient with BI tools such as Sigma, Omni, Tableau, or Looker.
- Have experience in a regulated industry, ideally healthcare, and are familiar with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
- Are comfortable with product and analytics tools like PostHog, Mixpanel, or Amplitude.
- Bring strong intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the operational and clinical complexities of a care delivery business.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, with a track record of building trust and alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
