AML Specialist

Join us to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians

At Neo, we’re on a mission to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians. Life at a rapidly expanding tech startup isn’t for everyone. It’s complex, fast-paced, high-pressure, but also incredibly fulfilling. Since its founding in 2019, Neo has gained incredible traction and is one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in Canada.

The Role

At Neo, our AML team operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where adaptability and collaboration are key. As an AML Specialist, you’ll be on the front lines of our investigation process—reviewing alerts generated by our systems and helping identify activities that may present financial crime risks. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to start a career in AML. You’ll gain hands-on experience with alert handling, risk assessment, and regulatory processes, while being supported by a team that values learning, growth, and innovation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Conduct thorough and timely reviews of client screening (e.g., sanctions, PEPs) and transaction monitoring alerts using internal systems and tools.
  • Analyze information from internal systems, client documentation, and public sources to evaluate potential risks and determine if further investigation is warranted
  • Apply internal AML policies, procedures, risk typologies and regulatory guidance to accurately and efficiently triage alerts to established criteria.
  • Document analysis and decisions clearly and consistently in line with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Escalate potential suspicious activity to the Investigations team in a timely and effective manner
  • Collaborate with peers, Quality Assurance (QA) teams, and governance functions to ensure consistency in alert handling, share best practices and contribute to a strong AML culture.
  • Stay informed on current financial crime trends, evolving  AML regulations through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on high-risk clients and transactions triggering EDD requirements.

Who we are looking for:

  • Familiarity with AML concepts, red flags, or regulatory expectations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured procedures
  • Analytical thinker with curiosity and problem-solving mindset
  • Clear communicator—comfortable writing brief, well-structured summaries
  • Eager to learn and grow in a compliance-focused environment
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new tools
