Position Overview

The Housing Assistance Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Leasing Team with many aspects of the leasing flow. Their primary work is to drive a seamless experience for applicants using any form of Housing Assistance (Housing Choice Voucher, Rapid Rehousing, etc.). Per DC Fair Housing Regulation, and because it’s the right thing to do, Nest DC accepts applications from anyone using a Housing Assistance voucher. If an applicant using Housing Assistance passes our standard screening criteria (the same for all applicants), their application will be passed on to the Housing Assistance Coordinator, who will assemble a Tenancy Approval packet for submission to DC Housing Authority (DCHA), the DC Department of Human Services (DHS), or a non-profit entity that may be offering the housing voucher.

The packet is just the first step in securing housing for a family in need. The Coordinator will then need to monitor the progress of the packet, and contact the right individuals to ensure it is moving to the Inspection stage. The Coordinator will travel to the house or condo to meet the inspector on site, and take detailed notes / photos of anything the inspector flags. If the house passes on the first try, then you have exciting news to bring to your applicant! If not, you’ll need to give your notes / pictures to our maintenance team so they can repair the property accordingly.

The Housing Assistance process can be challenging to navigate, which is why we need a coordinator to specialize in it. But the Coordinator will do even more to help the Leasing team fly high! During down time, the Coordinator should be qualifying all leads by phone - introducing themselves and Nest DC, ensuring the the prospect’s criteria align with the property they are interested in, and making them feel welcome from the first interaction. They should also be monitoring the Leasing Team email inbox and assisting with responses when possible. Lastly, the Coordinator may be called on to fill in for showings and/or other field work.

Every day will be different! Learning opportunities and growth potential abound! Join a team that cares about people, homes, teamwork, and success.
