Work Location

We're specifically looking for a bilingual candidate (French/English) based in Quebec.

Why We Are Hiring

In order to facilitate the fast growth of nesto in Quebec, we are looking for a highly motivated, organized, and fast-moving mortgage professional with excellent communication and customer service skills. This person will play a key role in our team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Adjudicate with Precision & Insight: Review and analyze residential mortgage applications and supporting documentation (credit, income, assets, and appraisals). You will apply sound credit judgment within established authority limits to identify and mitigate risk while ensuring full adherence to regulatory and internal policies.
  • Take Ownership of the Pipeline: Manage your end-to-end file pipeline in a high-volume, high-performance environment. You are responsible for ensuring applications are completed within specific timeframes and that deals close on schedule without sacrificing quality.
  • Deliver Solutions & Support: Act as a proactive partner to nesto’s internal mortgage advisors. You don’t just provide decisions; you provide solutions. You’ll identify missing information early and engage proactively to resolve complex issues, ensuring a frictionless journey for the client.
  • Maintain the "Done Right" Standard: Cultivate a culture of rigorous due diligence. You will maintain organized, airtight loan files where every document is verified and aligned with company policies and lending guidelines.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Beyond daily underwriting, you will identify process efficiencies and mentor team members, maintaining a "can-do" attitude that thrives in a fast-paced, evolving lending landscape.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting.
  • You don't take files at face value. You are the type of underwriter who digs into the details, asks clarifying questions, and looks for the "how" rather than just settling for a "no."
  • You thrive in a high-volume environment. You are organized, self-driven, and take pride in managing your pipeline efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • You operate as part of a team. You are comfortable mentoring others and working across departments to move files forward.
  • You have a genuine interest in helping transform the mortgage customer journey.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience as an underwriter working in a credit union, monoline, or similar institutional environment.
  • Experience in prime/A-lending is central to this role; however, a diverse background in alternative/B-lending or commercial lending is an asset.

Interview Process

  • Recruiter Screen (30 min): An intro call to learn about your background and give you a real picture of the role.
  • Take-Home Assignment / Case Study: A chance to showcase your skills through a practical exercise relevant to the role.
  • Final Interview (60 min):You'll meet with the recruiter and the hiring manager for a final interview before a decision is made.
  • Offer Stage: Pending successful background, criminal, and reference checks, you'll receive a formal offer to join the team.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Top-tier extended health, dental, and vision coverage, featuring 100% drug coverage.
  • Health & Wellness Spending Account: A $1,500 combined annual flex fund for things like gym memberships or extra medical needs.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: 4 weeks of vacation plus 8 personal floater days.
  • Retirement Savings: Access to a group RRSP/DPSP plan featuring competitive company-matching contributions.
  • Telemedicine Services: Access via Dialogue and coverage for licensed practitioner services.
  • Family Support: Robust Maternity and Parental Leave Top-Up programs.

Diversity and Inclusion

At nesto, we believe that creativity and collaboration are the result of a diverse team. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and we strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities to apply. We are committed to creating a workplace that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
