Database Administrator (Sybase Specialist)

Overview 

Netrio is seeking  a highly skilled Database Administrator specializing in Sybase to supplement our team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and optimizing Sybase databases, along with familiarity with Murex and SQL technologies. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential for this role, which will require in-person attendance in Bangalore.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Sybase Administration: Manage, monitor, and optimize Sybase databases to ensure high performance and availability. Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies specific to Sybase environments. 
  • SQL Development: Write and optimize SQL code for database scripts and queries as needed. While SQL is not the primary focus, candidates should be able to effectively handle basic SQL tasks and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Conduct regular database health checks to identify and resolve issues quickly. Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies for both Sybase and Murex environments. 
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, operational procedures, and system changes. Ensure that all relevant processes are well-documented for future reference. 
  • Sybase Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor and tune the environment to ensure fast, stable, and reliable database operations. 
  • Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical support and insights. Clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Qualifications 

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with a strong focus on Sybase systems. 
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of Sybase database management administration. 
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. 
  • Documentation: Ability to create and maintain thorough documentation for processes and system changes. 
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively address database issues. 

Requirements 

  • Ability to work onsite in Bangalore, India. 
  • Hours expected 7am Bangalore team and be expected to be on site 9 hours.
