Position Overview
Netwrix is seeking a skilled and hands-on Senior Staff Security Engineer, focused on Security Operations and Infrastructure. In this fully remote position, you’ll take on a dual role—designing and implementing critical security architecture while also shifting into operational mode as needed to support (and potentially lead) threat analysis, incident response, and continuous security monitoring.
Reporting to the Information Security Manager, you will spearhead security engineering initiatives by selecting and deploying advanced tools, automating processes, and ensuring secure configurations across global, hybrid environments. When operational needs arise, you’ll collaborate with the Security Operations Center (SOC) and cross-functional teams to perform deep-dive incident investigations, coordinate response activities, and enhance detection capabilities. This is an opportunity to shape both the strategic and tactical sides of security operations at Netwrix as we continue to scale.
Responsibilities
Security Infrastructure
- Architect, implement, and maintain essential security tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, IAM, email security).
- Lead security automation projects and drive process maturity across cloud (Azure/AWS) and on-prem environments.
- Develop secure configuration management standards, including implementing Zero Trust principles where appropriate.
Operations & Incident Response
- Collaborate with internal and external SOC resources to manage day-to-day alert triage and threat detection.
- Shift into operational mode to conduct in-depth analysis of emerging threats and coordinate response efforts during incidents.
- Potentially serve as an incident lead during major security events, ensuring accurate root cause analysis, timely remediation, and clear stakeholder communication.
- Track and interpret operational KPIs and risk metrics, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
Governance, Risk & Compliance Support
- Align security engineering efforts with frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and GDPR.
- Participate in readiness efforts for audits, security assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with GRC and IT teams to ensure that security controls are embedded into everyday processes and best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Product Security, and IT teams to integrate security-by-design principles into infrastructure and DevSecOps workflows.
- Provide mentorship to junior security analysts or engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill-building.
- Offer consultative insight to leadership regarding emerging threats, operational risk, and long-term security roadmaps.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in information security, with a strong background in both security engineering and operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing security operations, including incident response, in hybrid or cloud-first environments.
- Hands-on experience selecting, deploying, and optimizing security products at scale.
- Experience in a SaaS, cloud-first, or hybrid IT environment
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Okta, Entra ID, Cortex XDR, Crowdstrike Falcon, Azure DevOps, Defender for Cloud, etc.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and enterprise risk frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR).
- Ability to employ or champion the use of emerging technologies (like GenAI/LLMs) to advance security capabilities.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or similar certifications
- Azure or AWS security certifications a plus
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Security, etc.)
