Position Overview

We are building a next-generation platform that enables customers to identify, protect, and govern their data with identity at the center. As organizations transition to hybrid environments and manage explosive data growth, our platform provides the visibility, control, and intelligence required to secure sensitive information at scale.

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to design and deliver core components of our enterprise security platform, contributing both deep technical expertise and strong engineering leadership. You will own complex subsystems end-to-end, solve challenging distributed systems problems, and elevate the quality and performance of critical product areas.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is comfortable taking architectural guidance from Senior Staff Engineers, while independently driving implementation, design, and improvement across large features or services.

Key Responsibilities

Core Engineering & System Design

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable services across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Lead the development of major features or entire components, ensuring high- quality delivery and long-term system health.
  • Apply strong system design principles to improve modularity, performance, and reliability across services.
  • Translate product requirements into clear technical plans and execution strategies.

Technical Leadership & Best Practices

  • Provide technical direction within your product area, influencing design decisions and improving engineering standards.
  • Conduct in-depth design and code reviews, raising code quality and ensuring adherence to secure coding practices.
  • Drive improvements in performance, scalability, observability, and reliability across services.
  • Champion engineering excellence by identifying technical debt, proposing improvements, and guiding refactoring efforts.

Collaboration & Execution

  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, UX, DevOps, and security teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues spanning multiple components and support critical incident response.
  • Contribute to documentation, architectural discussions, and engineering planning.
  • Support the adoption of CI/CD, cloud-native patterns, and modern development practices.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor early-career and mid-level engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where team members learn from each other, share knowledge, and build high-quality solutions.
  • Help onboard new engineers and contribute to an inclusive, supportive engineering culture.

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in a modern backend language such as Ruby, Python, or C#.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing distributed, scalable systems.
  • Solid understanding of cloud and hybrid architecture patterns, microservices, and containerization.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Argo, etc.).
  • Proficiency in system-level debugging, performance optimization, and incident root-cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities. Ability to communicate clearly across teams, document decisions, and provide actionable technical feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in data security, identity security, or enterprise SaaS platforms. Familiarity with event-driven or data synchronization architectures.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes operators, cloud resource orchestration, or multi-tenant design.
  • Experience mentoring across teams or leading small cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Interest in leveraging AI-assisted tooling to improve productivity and code quality.

Why This Role

  • You will have ownership over significant components that power mission-critical data security workflows.
  • You will work on challenging distributed systems problems with real-world scale and impact.
  • You will influence engineering practices and help shape the technical culture of a growing organization.
  • You will collaborate closely with Senior Staff Engineers, expanding your architectural depth and leadership experience.

If you are passionate about building robust systems, solving complex engineering challenges, and mentoring others while continuing to write high-quality code, this role offers the opportunity to grow and have meaningful impact.
