Jobs at Ayr Energy

FP&A Manager

Role Summary

This is a business-first finance role. We are looking for someone who understands how the business makes money, not just how the numbers are reported. You will partner with sales, project and supply chain teams to understand what is driving orders, margins and cash. You will then turn that understanding into budgets, forecasts and recommendations that leadership can act on.

You should be curious about the business: how a bid becomes an order, how an order becomes a delivery, and how a delivery becomes cash. If you understand that cycle, you will see problems in the numbers before they show up in the P&L.

Business Understanding We Expect

  • How the business earns and keeps its margin. This covers sourcing, pricing, freight, duties, FX, warranty and commissioning, and how each affects project profitability.
  • The order-to-cash cycle. This runs from tender and bid to contract terms, milestone billing, delivery, retention and collection. You should understand where cash gets stuck and why.
  • The market and customers. Utilities, discoms, IPPs and EPC contractors differ in payment behavior, contract structure and risk.
  • Cross-border operations. This means the flow between AEI and AEIPL, import and export implications, and currency exposure.
  • Commercial risk. This includes guarantees, LDs (liquidated damages), warranties, insurance and counterparty risk, and how they show up in financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting and forecasting

  • Prepare the annual budget and rolling forecasts for AEI and AEIPL.
  • Build driver-based models grounded in real business drivers: order book, delivery schedules, vendor lead times, pricing and cost inputs.
  • Challenge assumptions with business teams and update forecasts when the ground reality changes.

Reporting and insight

  • Prepare monthly management reports with variance analysis that explains the business reason behind each variance, not just the number.
  • Analyze margins by project, product and customer, including freight, duties, FX and logistics.
  • Build MIS dashboards and board and investor reporting packs. Slides should be brief and precise.

Cash and working capital

  • Prepare 13-week cash flow forecasts and track receivables, payables and inventory.
  • Monitor bank guarantee and SBLC utilization, and facility headroom.
  • Link cash movement to project milestones and business events.

Process improvement

  • Automate and standardize recurring reports and models.
  • Improve data quality and reporting timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MBA (Finance), CA (Inter), CA qualified
  • 2–3 years in FP&A, business finance or financial planning, with demonstrated partnering with non-finance teams.
  • Experience in manufacturing, EPC, power, renewables or other project-based, order-driven businesses is strongly preferred.

 Skills

Business and analytical

  • Strong business and commercial acumen. You can explain what is happening in the business and why.
  • Sound judgment on what matters. You can separate signal from noise and focus on the few drivers that move margin and cash.
  • Ability to read contracts and commercial terms and translate them into financial impact.
  • Structured problem solving and a habit of asking “why” behind the numbers.

Technical

  • Advanced Excel: financial modelling, lookups, pivots, scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Solid grasp of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, and how they connect.
  • Familiarity with an accounting system (Zoho Books, QuickBooks or similar).
  • Working knowledge of cost and margin analysis, working capital and basic FX exposure.
  • Exposure to Power BI or similar tools is a plus.

Behavioral

  • Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain numbers in plain language to non-finance colleagues.
  • Confidence to challenge assumptions and hold a view, while staying collaborative.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail and respect for deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with US and India teams across time zones.

What We Offer

  • Direct exposure to leadership and cross-border finance.
  • A growing company in the energy infrastructure sector.
  • A clear path to Senior FP&A / Business Finance Manager.
  • Compensation as per experience and industry standards.
