Security Guard – Edmonton & Area

Location: Edmonton and surrounding areas within approximately 45 minutes
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time & Casual
Positions: Static Security, Mobile Security & Casual/On-Call
Shifts: Days, nights, weekends & holidays

About the Role

We are hiring reliable, professional, and safety-focused Security Guards for a variety of assignments throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.

Positions may include static/site security, mobile security, and casual/on-call assignments, with sites generally located within approximately 45 minutes of Edmonton.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in providing professional security services, maintaining a strong client presence, and ensuring the safety and security of people and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by patrolling and monitoring assigned premises, property, and personnel.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and inspect buildings, equipment, access points, and surrounding areas for security and safety concerns.
  • Perform access control duties by verifying and permitting authorized individuals to enter the site as required.
  • Identify, prevent, and report loss, theft, damage, unauthorized access, and other irregular activity.
  • Enforce site-specific safety and security policies and procedures in accordance with training and company protocols.
  • Conduct mobile patrols and site checks as assigned.
  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic when required.
  • Complete required safety and security documentation, including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Daily Occurrence Reports (DORs), and Incident Reports (IRs).
  • Inspect company vehicles and promptly report maintenance or servicing requirements to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and other security-related situations.
  • Report for scheduled shifts on time and prepared to perform assigned duties.
  • Notify the appropriate supervisor as soon as possible if unable to attend a scheduled shift, in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain professional conduct and provide courteous and respectful service to clients, employees, contractors, and members of the public.

Work Conditions

  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Assignments may include commercial, industrial, construction, residential, and other client sites.
  • Mobile positions require operating company vehicles between assigned locations.
  • Shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours, depending on the assignment.
  • Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
  • Rotating day and night schedules may be required for certain positions.
  • Overtime may be available or required based on operational and client needs.
  • Hours and schedules may vary depending on the position and assignment.

Role Requirements

  • Valid Alberta Security Guard Licence.
  • Valid Standard First Aid certification.
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean three-year driving record.
  • Reliable transportation may be required depending on the assignment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of security operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency and high-stress situations.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.

Experience

  • Minimum one year of security experience is preferred.
  • Previous mobile, industrial, commercial, construction, or loss-prevention experience is considered an asset.
  • Additional experience may be required for specific assignments depending on client and site requirements.
