As we expand our specialized adult services in the Santa Cruz area—including our high-intensity Enhanced Behavior Programs—we are looking for dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Behavior Technicians to join our team.
In this role, you won't be flying solo. You will work under the direct supervision and mentorship of our clinical leadership team (BCBAs and BCBA Candidates) to deliver life-changing behavioral intervention.
Behavior Technician (BT) / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) – Adult Services
Location: Santa Cruz, CA (Various community, residential, and day program settings)
Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Compensation: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour (Depending on experience and RBT certification)
Supervised By: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Board Certified Behavior Analyst Candidate
Role Overview
We are seeking Behavior Technicians (BTs and RBTs) who are passionate about making a tangible difference in adult services. This position involves working directly with adults who may exhibit high intensity behaviors across a variety of community-based, residential, and day program settings.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct Intervention: Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill-acquisition programs designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Crisis Management & Safety: Utilize approved safety-care and de-escalation techniques to safely manage and redirect highly aggressive, self-injurious, or disruptive behaviors.
- Data Collection: Accurately track and graph behavioral data during every session using our digital data-collection systems to monitor client progress.
- Skill Building: Assist adult clients in developing functional communication, daily living, vocational, and social skills to promote independence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervising BCBAs/BCBA Candidates, residential staff, and families to ensure program fidelity and consistent care.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges is required. Experience managing aggressive behaviors is a major plus.
- Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred).
- Certifications: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential is a plus.
- Reliability: A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance (travel between local sites in the Santa Cruz area is required).
- Resilience & Empathy: Strong emotional regulation, physical stamina, and a genuine commitment to supporting adults with complex behavioral needs.
