Director, DMPK (or Senior Director)

BioAge Labs (BIOA) is finding new ways to treat disease by targeting the mechanisms of aging, with the ultimate goal of increasing healthy human lifespan. https://bioagelabs.com

We are seeking an experienced Director, DMPK (or Senior Director). This is a fully remote position, and the successful candidate can live in any of the continental US states.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP, Non Clinical Development, the Director, DMPK will lead the company's DMPK and translational pharmacology function, collaborating across disciplines to optimize candidate selection, clinical translation, and regulatory success.

Job Duties:

  • Lead the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and translational pharmacology strategy across BioAge's pipeline, supporting programs from lead optimization through IND-enabling studies and clinical development.
  • Develop integrated DMPK and translational pharmacology strategies to optimize absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion (ADME), exposure, tissue distribution, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) relationships, and human dose prediction.
  • Design, oversee, and interpret in vitro and in vivo DMPK, ADME, metabolite identification, and bioanalytical studies to enable informed candidate selection and progression decisions.
  • Partner closely with Medicinal Chemistry, Discovery Biology, Biomarkers, Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology, and Clinical Development to integrate DMPK data into overall program strategy and decision-making.
  • Design, direct, and interpret quantitative PK/PD, exposure-response, and PBPK/population-PK modeling that integrates nonclinical and clinical data, driving mechanism-based dose selection and model-informed drug development.
  • Provide scientific leadership for first-in-human dose projections, clinical pharmacology strategy, and translational plans that bridge preclinical findings to clinical development.
  • Identify and proactively address DMPK risks and optimization opportunities, including drug-drug interaction potential, metabolite characterization, formulation considerations, and species translation.
  • Select, manage, and oversee external CROs and strategic partners conducting DMPK, bioanalytical, and translational pharmacology studies, ensuring high scientific quality, timely execution, and regulatory compliance.
  • Author and review DMPK and clinical pharmacology sections of regulatory submissions, including INDs, CTAs, Investigator's Brochures, and related documentation, and support interactions with global regulatory authorities.
  • Build and continuously improve DMPK capabilities, scientific standards, and decision-making frameworks, evaluating and adopting emerging approaches in quantitative pharmacology and translational science to strengthen BioAge's platform.
  • Communicate DMPK strategy, data, and recommendations to cross-functional teams, leadership, and external partners to drive key development and portfolio decisions.
  • Mentor and develop internal scientific talent while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and data-driven culture across cross-functional teams.

Required Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry experience following completion of a Ph.D., with demonstrated success advancing small molecule therapeutics from discovery through early clinical development.
  • Proven experience leading DMPK strategy for multiple drug discovery and development programs, including candidate selection, IND-enabling studies, and first-in-human dose projection.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting regulatory submissions, including authorship or review of DMPK and clinical pharmacology sections of INDs, CTAs, Investigator's Brochures, and related regulatory documents.
  • Experience serving as the DMPK representative on multidisciplinary program teams and influencing key portfolio and development decisions.
  • Experience selecting, managing, and overseeing external CROs and scientific collaborators.
  • Experience mentoring scientists and providing technical leadership within cross-functional organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK), ADME, bioanalysis, metabolite identification, and disposition of small molecule therapeutics.
  • Strong understanding of translational pharmacology, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) relationships, exposure-response analyses, and quantitative approaches to dose selection.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate DMPK, pharmacology, biomarker, and toxicology data to inform candidate optimization and development strategy.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory expectations for DMPK and clinical pharmacology, including FDA, EMA, and ICH guidance.
  • Strong scientific judgment with the ability to evaluate complex data, identify development risks, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership and authoring high-quality scientific and regulatory documents.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, remote biotechnology environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with quantitative pharmacology approaches, including physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling and/or population pharmacokinetic analyses.
  • Experience in age-related diseases, metabolic disease, obesity, cardiometabolic disease, or other chronic disease therapeutic areas.
  • Experience building DMPK capabilities and scientific strategy within a growing biotechnology company.
  • Prior direct people management experience is a plus
