Position Summary

Upper Crust Food Service is seeking a skilled Senior Staff Accountant or Assistant Controller to support the financial close process and maintain the integrity of our general ledger. The right candidate will own the day-to-day accounting execution — close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Close

      Lead or support month-end and year-end close process

      Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation

      Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and subledgers to the general ledger

      Proactively identify manual and inefficient processes and manage automation efforts using NetSuite modules, saved searches, and workflow tools

      Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records

Financial Reporting

      Produce monthly financial statements and internal management reporting

      Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed to inform business decisions

Compliance & Controls

      Support internal controls documentation and process improvement

      Assist with audit preparation and coordination with the external accounting and audit firms

      Produce and track sales tax reports

Cross-Functional Collaboration

      Work closely with AP, AR, Payroll, and operations teams to provide accounting support

      Serve as a NetSuite resource for the accounting team and cross-functional partners

      Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

      3–7 years of progressive accounting experience

      Proficiency in NetSuite (required) - including hands-on experience with modules, saved searches, and workflow automation

      Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIF, and data manipulation

      Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting

      Strong attention to detail and ability to meet close deadlines

      Effective written and verbal communication skills

      Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments

Preferred Qualifications

      CPA designation (preferred but not required)

      Interest in how AI can augment accounting and finance teams

      Experience in food service, hospitality, or multi-unit/multi-state operations
