Employee Relations Manager

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Employee Relations Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This role is crucial in managing workers' compensation cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution of workplace injuries, and facilitating employees' return to work in a modified capacity when applicable. Additionally, the Employee Relations Manager will assist managers with conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, promoting a positive and productive work environment. This position requires proficiency in both English and Spanish to effectively communicate with our diverse workforce. The successful candidate will have a strong background in handling employee relations issues and managing workers compensation cases within a retail environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Workers' Compensation Management:

  • Oversee the workers' compensation process from initial injury reporting to claim resolution.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and legal representatives to manage claims efficiently.
  • Develop and implement return-to-work programs, working closely with managers to identify modified duties for injured employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant workers' compensation laws and regulations.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints or concerns, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on handling employee relations matters and implementing disciplinary actions.
  • Advise on best practices for conflict resolution to maintain a positive work environment.

Policy and Procedure Compliance:

  • Collaborate with the Head of HR to review and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Conduct training sessions for managers and employees on relevant topics, such as harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, and conflict resolution.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employee relations and workers' compensation cases.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Act as a mediator to resolve conflicts and build strong working relationships among employees.
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk for the organization.
  • Assist in other areas of HR as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee relations and workers' compensation management, preferably within the retail and/or production industry.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, particularly in relation to workers compensation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • High degree of integrity, working with sensitive information, understanding privacy laws. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, particularly in managing multiple project priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software preferably, Rippling.
