About Direct Meds

Direct Meds is a rapidly growing, privately held healthcare company providing technology-enabled telehealth, prescription medication, and pharmacy services across consumer and business-to-business channels. We operate in a dynamic, multi-entity environment with significant transaction volume and continued expansion into new products and services. We're a remote-first company investing heavily in institutional-grade finance, and this role is part of that foundation.

Position Summary

The Accounts Receivable Specialist owns the full receivables cycle for Direct Meds' business-to-business client billing: issuing invoices, serving as the primary billing contact for our external clients, following up on open balances, and applying cash. Most of your work will initially sit within one of our fastest-growing business units, with a second unit's client billing added as it grows. You will report to a Director of Accounting within our operational accounting team. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you will be the person our clients know, and the person finance leadership relies on to keep receivables current and cash coming in on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue accurate, timely invoices to external business clients in accordance with contract terms

• Serve as the primary day-to-day billing contact for clients: answer questions, research and resolve billing discrepancies, and handle disputes professionally and promptly

• Monitor accounts receivable aging and run a consistent collections cadence by email and phone, escalating past-due accounts to finance leadership per policy

• Apply customer payments (ACH, wire, check, and card) accurately and reconcile receipts to the bank and the general ledger

• Maintain customer master data, including billing contacts, payment terms, and onboarding documentation for new clients

• Prepare weekly A/R aging and collections status reporting for finance leadership, including days-sales-outstanding and past-due trends

• Support month-end close with A/R reconciliations and supporting schedules, including inputs for the allowance for doubtful accounts

• Provide additional month-end close support by retrieving monthly statements and reports (bank, loan, and platform) and keeping them organized in our shared document repository

• Provide audit support for receivables: requested schedules, confirmations, and workpapers

• Document and improve billing and collections processes as volume grows, and support the transition of A/R workflows into a new ERP

First-Year Goals

• Complete the transition of A/R duties from the general accounting team within your first 90 days

• Billing running on a documented, repeatable monthly calendar, with invoices issued on time

• Aging kept current, with past-due balances actively worked and clearly visible to finance leadership

• Clean monthly A/R reconciliations with no significant audit adjustments

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of accounts receivable, billing, or collections experience; business-to-business billing strongly preferred

• Comfortable and professional in direct client contact, in writing and by phone

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; organized and able to manage a recurring billing calendar independently

• Proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivot tables); experience with QuickBooks Online or a major ERP is a plus

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent practical experience, is a plus

• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required

Compensation and Benefits

• 48,000–58,000 base salary, set within the range based on experience and qualifications

• Profit share opportunity beginning after your first year of employment; awards vary with individual performance and the group's profitability

• Fully remote (US) with flexible working hours; no travel required

• Medical coverage and paid time off (accrued in your first year, flexible thereafter); 401(k) rollout planned
