Account Supervisor – Media AOR

About the Role

H/L is seeking an Account Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations and strategic integration for a major media account. As the Media Agency of Record (AOR), we drive growth across multiple client lines of business by pairing media strategy with creative execution, production, and high-touch client leadership.

In this role, you will manage client relationships across multiple lines of business, mentor a dedicated account team, and own the cross-functional workflow connecting media planning, creative strategy, and performance analytics.

If you are a strategic thinker with a high EQ who thrives in a fast-paced media environment, excels at synthesizing data into actionable POVs, and loves building collaborative, trust-based teams, we want to hear from you.

Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid) | Remote friendly for U.S.-based candidates

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Media AOR Management

  • Client Relationship & LOB Growth: Serve as a trusted strategic partner across multiple lines of business. Strengthen client relationships, manage client expectations on scope and budget, and proactively present POVs to unlock growth opportunities.
  • Media & Marketing Integration: Partner with the Account Director and media counterparts to lead media planning, marketing calendars, and integrated campaign strategies.
  • Performance-Driven Strategy: Leverage dashboard analytics and key campaign KPIs to evaluate performance, optimize creative/media strategies, and deliver actionable recommendations (e.g., creative refreshes, media optimizations, test-and-learn initiatives).
  • Financial Management: Oversee account profitability, client budgets, billing inputs, and invoice processing, ensuring alignment between scope, timing, and revenue.

Workflow & Team Leadership

  • Integrated Campaign Management: Oversee the end-to-end campaign lifecycle across digital, social, broadcast, OOH, and emerging channels - from writing creative briefs and leading kickoffs to directing client presentations.
  • Team Development & Mentorship: Direct, train, and mentor direct reports (AE, AC). Establish clear goals, delegate effectively, and foster an empathetic, supportive team environment centered on growth and accountability.
  • Process Excellence: Optimize daily account workflows across media, creative, and production teams to maintain high output quality and operational efficiency.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–7 years of agency experience, with at least 1 year actively managing a team in an Account Supervisor (or equivalent) role.
  • Media & Digital Acumen: Strong grounding in the digital media ecosystem, emerging channels/platforms, and performance analytics.
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Exceptional self-awareness, active listening skills, and the ability to read the room, navigate complex client dynamics, and lead with empathy.
  • Multi-Channel Scope: Track record executing integrated campaigns across digital, paid social, broadcast, and OOH.
  • Strategic & Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated success evaluating performance data to construct independent, high-level client POVs.
  • Communication & Presence: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with experience leading senior client discussions.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

The Ideal Candidate

  • High-EQ & People-Centric: Intuitive, empathetic, and adept at navigating diverse personalities, building genuine rapport, and resolving friction smoothly across clients and agency teams.
  • Strategic & Curious: Driven by data insights, intuitive problem-solving, and a desire to continuously test and innovate on client business.
  • Composed Leader: Decisive, level-headed under fast-paced agency deadlines, and able to project calm confidence to clients and internal teams alike.
  • Collaborative Builder: Skilled at bringing cross-functional teams (Media, Creative, Production) together to achieve shared client goals.
