About the role

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the incumbent will complete a variety of regular maintenance, renovations, and needed repairs. Some tasks are minor in nature, such as paint, repairing or assembling furniture, cleaning gutters, and inspecting roofs.


Scope of Responsibilities

Renovations:

  • Painting, installing doors and shelves, moving furniture, etc.

Maintenance:

  • Coordinate the installation, maintenance, repairs, and renovations of JHSS property.
  • Arranging property maintenance and resolving any issues that might arise.

Compliance:

  • Analyzing problems with properties and finding the best solution for tenants/clients and property owner.
  • Troubleshooting and responding to issues regarding the facility.

Reporting and Inventories:

  • Updating supervisor on project progress, general, and arising/potential issues.
  • Ordering supplies when needed.


Knowledge and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in building maintenance.
  • Prior work experience as a handyperson with working knowledge of property management, business administration, and other related functions an asset.


Abilities

  • Moving heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Climbing ladders and going into crawlspaces as needed.
  • Keeping various records for reporting, statistics, and general budgeting.
  • Reading blueprints, plans, and diagrams.
  • Gathering and using tools and supplies and bringing them to worksites

  • Knowledge of basic math and geometry.
